Jonathan David Hopkins

Jonathan David Hopkins passed away June 21, 2026, at the age of thirty-nine years old. He was born on August 18, 1986, in Farmington, Missouri, to David Hopkins and Nancy Miner. Jonathan grew up in Viburnum and graduated from Viburnum High School with the Class of 2005. At a young age, Jonathan accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized. His faith remained important to him throughout his life, and he enjoyed reading his Bible. Jonathan's greatest joy in life was his daughter, Carmen. He treasured every moment they spent together, especially laughing, watching cartoons, and making memories that she will forever hold close to her heart. Jonathan was a hard worker who spent his career in several trades. He worked in concrete construction alongside Tony Abney, at the battery plant, and in the logging industry. Whether at work or at home, he was never afraid of hard work. In his free time, Jonathan found happiness outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing with his brothers at the Hopkins family farm and enjoyed riding his grandmother's four-wheeler. He was also gifted with a creative spirit, loving to sing, write poetry, and whittle walking sticks, each one reflecting his talent. Jonathan never met a stranger. He was known for being loud, fun-loving, and full of jokes, with a contagious laugh that could brighten any room. He loved taking walks, helping others whenever he could, and treating everyone he met with kindness and compassion. His loving heart, generous spirit, and genuine care for people will be remembered by all who knew him. Jonathan is survived by his mother: Nancy Miner of Viburnum, MO; father: David Hopkins of Potosi, MO; daughter: Carmen Hopkins of Viburnum, MO; brothers: Joe Hopkins and wife Rachel of Davisville, MO and Jesse Hopkins and wife Kaley of Davisville, MO; niece: Cora; nephews: Cyrus and Elliott; grandmother: Doshia Miner of Boss, MO; special aunt: Monica Thompson and husband Dale; great-uncle: Larry Hopkins; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death were his grandparents: Mackie Joe Miner, Wallace Hopkins and Sandra Chapman; and great-grandmother: Pauline Hopkins. Though his time on earth was far too short, the memories he created and the lives he touched will continue to bring comfort to those who loved him. Jonathan will be forever missed. Graveside Services were held Monday, June 29, 2026, at the Barton Cemetery with Pastor Paul Davis and Pastor Lyndell Decker officiating.
