Leona Faye (Abbott) Freeze

Leona Faye (Abbott) Freeze was born on December 22, 1941, in Mountain View, Missouri, to William Rayford and Lucy Edith (Browser) Abbott. She entered into Heaven on May 18, 2025, at her home in Jefferson City, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years. Leona grew up in Mountain View until her family relocated to St. Louis, Missouri, during her teen years. She was a dedicated homemaker and proud mother of four children: Sandra, Joseph, David, and Cheryl. Leona was united in marriage to her sweetheart, Garnold “George” Lynn Freeze on March 30, 1985, and together shared thirty-five years of memories before his passing on December 23, 2020. Leona enjoyed gardening and loved her flowers. She was an avid quilter, quilting beautiful keepsakes, and giving many as gifts until her health declined. Leona also enjoyed traveling. Most importantly, she treasured spending time with her family and creating lasting memories with her grandchildren and their families. Leona was a lady of great faith and longtime member of Salem Full Gospel Church where she served as a greeter. Leona is survived by her loving children: Sandra Collins and husband Joe of West Plains, MO, Joseph Morris and wife Janet of Jefferson City, MO, David Morris and wife Donna of Hillsboro, MO, and Cheryl Cummings and husband Tyrone of Elizabethtown, KY; eleven grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; honorary daughter: Kathy Abbott; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her husband: George Freeze; parents: William and Lucy (Browser) Abbott; all her siblings; and an infant child. Leona was well respected within her community. She will be remembered for sweet nature and will be deeply missed. Memorial Services for Leona Faye (Abbott) Freeze were held Tuesday, May 27, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Bill Stack officiating. Special Music was provided by Sister Sheri Stack singing “Blessed Assurance” and “Goodness of God”. Burial will be in the North Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
