Linda Kay (Smith) McGinty

Linda Kay (Smith) McGinty was born July 26, 1952, in Salem, Missouri to Lawrence and Eula (Wood) Smith. She grew up in Viburnum and graduated with the class of 1971 from Viburnum High School. Linda was united in marriage to William Gary Strader and to this union blessed with two children: Willie and Sarah. She was a caring, generous and loving mother, always putting their needs first. Linda was proud of both her children and their accomplishments. Linda and Gary were blessed with thirty-four years of marriage before his passing. Linda later met and fell in love with her sweetheart, Michael McGinty. They were united in marriage January 5, 2016 in Fort Myers, Florida. Linda and Michael enjoyed vacationing in Florida together and she loved collecting shells. Linda was an excellent real estate agent and worked with United Country Real Estate for many years before retiring. She enjoyed helping people purchase or sell their homes, making many friends during her years as an agent. Linda was very talented and liked quilting, sewing, and redoing furniture. She enjoyed bicycling and loved to cook and bake. Linda was fun loving, liked to have a good time, and knew how to light up a room. Spending time with her family was most important to her. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she treasured the memories they made together. Linda had strong faith in the Lord and was a devoted prayer warrior for anyone in need. She enjoyed attending church and fellowshiping with others, especially at Oak Grove Baptist Church or New Harmony Church. Linda entered into rest December 25, 2022, in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of seventy years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, loving husband; Michael McGinty of Wentzville, MO; son: Willie Strader and wife Stephanie of Salem, MO; daughter: Sarah Riffer and husband David of Anchorage, AK; father: Lawrence Smith of Washington, MO; sister: Debbie Puff and husband Jim of Washington, MO; brother: Larry Smith; grandchildren: Brady, Preslie, Glynna, and C.J.; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Linda is preceded in death by, her husband: Gary Strader and mother: Eula Smith. Linda was beautiful inside and out. A very vibrant, happy, friendly, kind-hearted gem. She was loved by many and will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Linda Kay (Smith) McGinty were held Saturday, December 31, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Barry Baugh officiating. Song selections played were “Scars in Heaven” and “Welcome Home”. Burial will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
