Louis J. Nielsen

Louis Jackson Nielsen, the only son of Louis R. and Doris C. (Corchan) Nielsen was born April 15, 1955, in Memphis, Tennessee. With his father’s career, they moved around frequently with many fond memories in Louisiana and Texas. Louis graduated high school in 1973 from St. Bernard Parish. Louis furthered his education with Tulane College obtaining his certificate in diesel mechanics. He worked as a diesel mechanic for several years in Vidor, Texas before switching his career path to accounting. Louis established Tax Masters while in Texas and relocated to Salem, Missouri, when Hurricane Rita came through. It was while in Vidor, Texas, he met his sweetheart Elizabeth M. Sheppard. They were united in marriage on November 6, 2001, and to this union blended two families. He was the proud father of two daughters, Angelique and Jacqueline and cherished Douglas, Dusin, David, and DeAnna as his own. Louis was a very community-oriented man who supported several organizations and community events. He was the main sponsor of the Chamber Rodeo and looked forward to the event every year. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading fiction novels and operating his Ham radio. He was also a collector of knives. Louis was a people person; he loved to visit with others and tell life stories. His grandchildren were the highlight of his life, and he treasured spending time with them. His faith was important to him and a steady presence throughout his life. Louis entered eternal rest December 6, 2025, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of seventy. He is survived by his wife: Beth Nielsen of Salem, MO; father: Louis R. Nielsen of Salem, MO; children: Angelique Martinez of Idaho, Jacqueline Smith of Texas, Douglas Carver of Festus, MO, Dustin Carver and wife Carraston of Hillsboro, MO, David Carver and wife Kristy of Festus, MO, and DeAnna Connell and husband Josh of De Soto, MO; many grandchildren; as well as numerous cousins, other relatives, and friends. Preceding him in death was his mother: Doris Nielsen. Louis, known to many as Jackie, was the gentlest soul and kindest man you’ve ever met. His kindness, generosity, and love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. His life will leave a lasting impact. He will be forever missed.
