Margie Nell (Henson) Kennedy

Margie Nell (Henson) Kennedy was born May 15, 1942, in Caruthersville, Missouri. She was number thirteen of fifteen children born to Carroll “Frank” Whitfield and Bertha Lue (Beatty) Henson. Margie grew up in Caruthersville, later lived in Parma, and after her father passed away and her mother fell ill, she went to live with her sister Carolyn Love in Barnhart, Missouri. Margie graduated from Herculaneum High School. Margie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert Franklin Kennedy, on June 24, 1961, in Festus, Missouri. Together they shared sixty-two years of marriage and lasting memories. Margie and Robert were blessed with two children: Craig and Vickie. Margie was very passionate about golf. She shared her passion with the community and proudly helped run the Clubhouse at the Viburnum Golf and Country Club. She was devoted to the game and a mentor to many. Margie was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She was their biggest cheerleader at the ballgames, never missing a game. Her grandchildren were her world and she looked forward to spoiling her great-grandchildren. Spending time with her family is what she looked forward to most. Margie was a lady of faith and member of Viburnum First Baptist Church. She was highly involved in the community, a member of Beta Sigma Phi, and organizer of the kids bowling league. Margie entered into eternal rest December 8, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Viburnum, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years. She is survived by her loving husband: Robert Kennedy of Viburnum, MO; son: Craig Kennedy of Valley Park, MO; daughter: Vickie Adams and husband Terry of Viburnum, MO; grandchildren: Zachary Kennedy and wife Jessica, William Adams and wife Ashley, Hannah Gerics and husband Amen, Trey Kennedy, and Jake Kennedy; great-grandchildren: Braydon, Daetyn, Peyton, and Amiah; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, her parents: Frank and Bertha Henson; and fourteen siblings. Margie was one of a kind, smart, sassy, and beautiful. Her legacy will continue with those who loved her most. She will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Margie Nell (Henson) Kennedy were held Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at the Viburnum Golf and Country Club with Craig Kennedy, Lance Mayfield, and Zachary Kennedy officiating. Song selections played were “Beyond the Sunset”, “Go Rest High on That Mountain”, “Old Rugged Cross”, “Goodbye”, and “Amazing Grace – Bagpipes”. Serving as Pallbearers were Zachary Kennedy, Brandon Adams, Trey Kennedy, Jake Kennedy, Braydon Kennedy, and Terry Baird. Honorary Pallbearers were Lance Mayfield and Rodney Henson. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Viburnum, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Margie Kennedy to the Special Olympics and left with Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
