Margurette Ellen (Townsend) Ross

Margurette Ellen (Townsend) Ross was born April 19, 1932 in Davenport, Iowa to Eugene Edward and Marie Frances (Daley) Townsend and passed away August 16, 2019 in Salem, Missouri at the age of eighty-seven years. Margurette grew up in Mitchell, Nebraska and graduated from Sunflower High School. She made her choice to serve the Lord at the age of twelve. On May 12, 1952, Margurette was united in marriage to Jack Eugene Ross in Scottsbluff, Nebraska and to this union five children were born: Vella, Sharon, Aaron, Gary and Lela. In her working years, Margurette taught school at Antioch and Alliance Nebraska. Margurette was excellent with her hands. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, embroidering, bread making and canning. When she wasn't working or making something, Margurette enjoyed watching the birds. Her happiest moments were those spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Preceding her in death, were her parents: Eugene and Marie Townsend; husband: Jack Ross; siblings: Arold, Sandy and Leroy; four brother-in laws and two sister-in-laws. Margurette is survived by her five children: Vella Harrison and husband Dean of Jadwin, MO, Sharon Divis and husband Gary of Rolla, MO, Aaron Ross and wife Diane of Columbus, NE, Gary Ross and wife Carla of Springview, NE and Lela Frerichs and husband Dan of Holdrege, NE; one sister: Beth Conley of Salem, MO; one brother: Lamont Townsend and wife Joy of Scottsbluff, NE; five sister-in-laws: Betsy Douma of Scottsbluff, NE, Joyce Ross of Oregon, Alberta Ross of Washington, Irene Ross of Oshkosh, NE and Johnna Townsend of Chillicothe, MO; two brother-in-laws: Leon Ross and wife Jackie of Scottsbluff, NE and Phillip Ross and wife JoAnn of Lisco, NE; one uncle: Raymond Townsend of Scottsbluff, NE; twenty-eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; fifty-six great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins; along with many extended family and friends. Margurette lived a wonderful life devoted to God and her family. She will forever be missed by many. Funeral Service for Margurette Ellen (Townsend) Ross was held Tuesday, August 20, 2019 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with George Peterson and Brad Holman officiating. Special Music sung by family and friends were: "In Lowliness the Saviour Came", "Precious Thought", "The Pages of Life" and "When Life is Ended". Serving as Pallbearers were: Jeffery Harrison, Aaron Ross II, Ryan Ross, John Ross, Jordan Ross and Brandon Frerichs. Honorary Pallbearers were: Colin Harrison, Dennis Harrison, Kenny Harrison, Alex Harrison, Vincent Ross, Nathan Ross, Randy Ross, Shandon Ross, Jonathon "Adam" Ross, Skyler Frerichs, Raylen Frerichs and Layston Frerichs. Burial was in the Gladden Empire Cemetery. All arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
