Maria Jeanee (Grogan) Schafer

Maria Jeanee (Grogan) Schafer was born May 29, 1970, in Houston, Missouri. She was the daughter of Leo and Jewell (Happel) Grogan. Growing up in Salem, Missouri, she graduated with the class of 1989 from Salem High School. On May 26, 2017, Maria was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jimmy Schafer, uniting two families and beginning a cherished eight-year journey together creating lasting memories. Maria was a loving mother of seven children: Courtni, Nathan, Lexi, Kyle, Taala, Emily, and Ethany. She adored her two grandbabies Daycen and Kaelynn and treasured spending time with them. Maria’s working career reflected her compassionate spirit. She worked for many years at the Salem Livestock Market and as a Vet Tech, showcasing her deep connection to animals. Alongside Jimmy, she was a dedicated farmer and loved raising cattle. Maria was also the owner A Look A Ground, a coffee shop and boutique. Maria vibrant personality led her to always being on the go exploring life’s adventures. She enjoyed camping, traveling to the Colorado mountains, Florida oceans, and spending time at Montauk State Park. Known for her generosity and kindness, Maria loved people and always had time for helping others. She also enjoyed volunteering at the R-4 voting polls every year. Maria was a lady of strong faith and enjoyed worship at New Home Baptist Church and Walking Faith Ministries. When her schedule allowed it, she enjoyed attending the Gospel Quartet Convention in Tennessee. Maria entered into Heaven, June 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in Salem, Missouri, at the age of fifty-five years. Those left behind to cherish her memory include her loving husband: Jimmy Schafer of Salem, MO; children: Courtni Clark of Springfield, MO, and Nathan Burton, Lexi Jo Burton, Kyle Schafer and wife Mary Jane, Taala Schafer, Emily Schafer, and Ethany Schafer all of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Daycen and Kaelynn; sister: Laura Acord and husband Walter of Salem, MO; father and mother-in-law: Roger and Patty Schafer of Salem, MO; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her parents: Leo and Jewell (Happel) Grogan; sister: Terry; and aunt: Marie Happel. Maria was a true inspiration. She lived a life filled with faith, family, and friends. Her memory will forever be a blessing to those whose lives she touched. Funeral Services for Maria Jeanee (Grogan) Schafer were held Friday, June 6, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Charlie Younger and Bro. Aaron Steelman officiating. Eulogies were shared by her dear daughters. Special Music played was “Dancing In The Sky”, “Cross My Heart”, and “The Baby”. Serving as Pallbearers were Nathan Burton, Christian Midkiff, Evan Poindexter, Logan Walker, Nathan Medearis, Brady Schafer, Jason Steelman, and Easton Ice. Burial was in the Miner Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Maria Schafer to Wilson Mortuary to help with final expenses.
