Mark Lawrence Huitt

Mark Lawrence Huitt, the son of Paul and Betty “Irene” (Boldes) Huitt, was born June 14, 1959, in St. Louis, Missouri. He grew up in Maryland where he met the love of his life, Shirley Lucas. On October 29, 1983, they were united in marriage and to this union blessed with two children: Andy and Amy. Mark and Shirley raised a family built on love and devotion. They supported their children in every adventure and enjoyed coaching little league sports. They shared thirty years together creating lasting memories before her passing June 5, 2014. His family was his main priority in life. He adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Mark worked hard to provide for his family. He was a talented cabinet drafter and worked with Village Gallery for over thirty years. In his spare time, he enjoyed mowing and maintaining his yard. His love for sports showed while supporting the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs. Mark was a man of faith and has been a member of Salem Christian Church since 1994. While there he served as deacon, custodian, grounds keeper, and soundman. Mark loved trivia and attended trivia clubs. He was also a member of the Current River Cruisers Car Club where he loved showing off his El Camino and looking at other classic cars. Mark passed away September 17, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-six years. He leaves behind his son: Andy Huitt of Springfield, MO; daughter: Amy Moore and husband Kevin of Salem, MO; sisters: Linda Guild and husband Tom of West Virginia, Susan Smith of Arkansas, and Holly Flick and husband Larry of Arkansas; grandchildren: Magnolia and Oliver; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death were his wife: Shirley (Lucas) Huitt; parents: Paul and Betty “Irene” (Boldes) Huitt; and brother-in-law: Richard Smith. Mark was a kind, thoughtful, compassionate man, known for his gentle spirit and generous nature. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. Funeral Services for Mark Lawrence Huitt were held Sunday, September 21, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Viburnum Chapel with Kevin Moore officiating. Congregational Hymns were “The Love of God” and “How Great Thou Art”. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
