Mark Calvin Large

Mark Calvin Large was born March 18, 1989, in Bartow, Florida, to Leon Calvin and Hattie Victoria (Purcell) Large. He was fortunate enough to grow up with a big, blended family including many siblings, with whom he has shared many fond memories. Mark was raised in Salem, Missouri and attended Salem High School. Mark’s family was most important to him, especially his son, Brayden, who he was very proud of. The times they spent together were some of his fondest memories. He lived his life for his family, being a hard worker and provider as a dedicated truck driver. Mark liked being on the open road and loved the great outdoors. He enjoyed hunting on the family property known as The Bakers Dozen, as well as fishing in the local rivers and streams near Montauk. His competitive spirit was brought to life while playing Monopoly and other board games. Mark found great strength, comfort, and guidance in his relationship with the Lord. At the age of twelve, he accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized. Mark previously attended New Home Baptist Church and Oak Grove Baptist Church. Mark entered eternal rest August 25, 2024, in Rolla, Missouri, at the age of thirty-five years. He leaves behind his loving family to include his son: Brayden Large of Rolla, MO; mother: Vickie Large of Rolla, MO; siblings: Marybeth Patrick and husband Adam of Salem, MO, Melissa Large of Rolla, MO, Lisa Inman and husband Kasey of Salem, MO, Karen Large of Rolla, MO, Jason Large of Aurora, MO, Kathy Hopkins and husband Mike of Springfield, MO, Joseph Large of Springfield, MO, Robert Large of Rolla, MO, and Andrew Large of Springfield, MO; as well as a host of half-siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death were his father: Leon Large; grandparents: Wanda and Max Purcell, and Dorothy Lang; and his half-brother: Gordan Large. Mark graced this world with extraordinary love, compassion, and friendship. His words of advice and positivity will continue to inspire and uplift those who carry his memory in their hearts. He will be forever missed. Memorial Services for Mark Calvin Large were held Friday, August 30, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Johnny Rhodes officiating. Song selections played were “Amazing Grace”, “Little Bitty”, and “Roll On (Eighteen Wheeler). Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be in memory of Mark Large to help with final expenses and left with Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
