Megan Sue (Horner) Cafourek

Megan Sue (Horner) Cafourek was born August 18, 1958, in Midland, Michigan, to Henry and Patricia (Allegre) Ann Horner. Megan grew up in Collinsville, Illinois and graduated with the class of 1976 from Collinsville High School. In May of 1997, Megan met Jim Cafourek and they quickly became a couple. They were united in marriage on March 21, 2004, and shared over twenty wonderful years creating lasting memories together. Megan was blessed with two children Eli and Kasey and later gained two children Jacob, and J.D. Megan loved her job at MFA Green Spot Garden Center where she enjoyed growing plants and arranging flowers from 1994 until she retired in 2014. She truly had a special touch and talented eye for arranging flowers. Megan liked sharing her talent with others and was a great mentor. Megan had a green thumb and love for nature which led her to spend hours landscaping and enjoying outdoor activities. In 1997, Megan and Jim started raising bottle calves together. She loved the farm life and liked spending time in the fields. Megan was an avid junker and an antique shopper. She had a creative ability to turn watering cans, washtubs, sawblades, dust pans, and buckets into beautiful painted masterpieces. She had a love for quilting and sewing. Megan made many quilts and several outfits for Cabbage Patch Dolls. Megan overcame many life challenges and lived life to the fullest. Her faith, family, and friends were most important to her. Spending time with her family is what she treasured most. She loved being a grandmother and adored her grandchildren. Megan departed this life July 28, 2024, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of sixty-five years. She leaves behind to carry on her legacy, loving husband Jim Cafourek of Salem, MO; children: Eli Pryor of Steelville, MO and Kasey Johnston of Boss, MO; stepchildren: Jacob Cafourek and wife Lanessa of Salem, MO and J.D. Cafourek and wife Dana of Hallsville, MO; siblings: Luanne Cummins, Marsha Oberkfell, Mary Klotz, and Tracey Garner; grandchildren: Hunter Hedrick, Holden Hedrick, Daylan Pryor, Elivia Pryor, and Cordale Pryor; great-grandchild: Westyn Hedrick; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her parents: Henry and Patricia Horner; and sister: Amy Hunsche. Megan always had a smile on her face that will forever be remembered. She will be deeply missed by those who loved her most. A Memorial Gathering for Megan Sue (Horner) Cafourek was held Friday, August 2, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, MIssouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Megan Cafourek to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital and left with Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
