Melvin Paul Griffith

Melvin Paul Griffith was born January 2, 1959 in Washington, Missouri, to Amos and Evelyn (Franklin) Griffith. He was one of nine children and spent his childhood years in Sullivan. Melvin attended grade school in a one room schoolhouse and high school at Sullivan High. Melvin was united in marriage to the love of his life, Pam Martin on August 27, 1983 at the Assembly of God Church in Salem, Missouri and together shared thirty-eight years of marriage. Melvin was a loving and devoted husband to Pam and cherished the memories they made together. In his early working years, Melvin worked in the construction field and timber industry. He later was employed as a gas attendant with Hocker Oil and Phil-Mart. Melvin was a well-liked person who always had a friendly smile to share. He was an old car enthusiast and liked muscle cars. Melvin was a collector of many things, but truly enjoyed collecting confederate flag memorabilia. Melvin departed this life July 31, 2021 in Salem, Missouri at the age of sixty-two years. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife Pam Griffith of the home; siblings: Alvin Griffith of Springfield, MO, Linda Lewis and husband Frank of Festus, MO, Judy Bell of Sullivan, MO, Ronald Griffith and wife Patty of Utah, Brian Griffith of St. Clair, MO, and Dale Griffith and wife Paula of Cuba, MO; sisters-in-law: Shirley Donovan and husband Dale of Salem, MO and Arlene Martin of Salem, MO; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Preceding him in death, parents: Amos and Evelyn Griffith; brothers: Billy and Earl Griffith; father and mother-in-law: John and Rosezella Martin; sister-in-law: Maryann Griffith; and brother-in-law: Wallie Mesey. Melvin will be remembered for his kind words and friendly smile. He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services for Melvin Paul Griffith were held Tuesday, August 3, 2021 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Charlie Younger and Jerry Blaylock officiating. Song selections played were “Winner Either Way”, “Lead Me Home”, “The Rest Of Mine”, and “I’ll Leave This World Loving You”. Serving as Pallbearers were Cody Berry, John Harrison, Jeremy Harrison, Dwayne Martin, Glenn Mesey, and Dean Griffith. Honorary Pallbearers were Rick Harris, Butch Mesey, Jim Walker, and Billy Mesey. Burial was in the Reedville Cemetery in Sullivan, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Melvin Griffith and left at Wilson Mortuary.
