Michelle Ruth Tompkins

Timothy Allan Tompkins was born October 27, 1965, in Canton, Illinois, to Ronald Eugene and Billie Jean (Tindall) Tompkins. He grew up in Norris, Illinois, and carried with him throughout his life an outgoing personality. He knew no stranger and had a way of making people feel welcome. Timothy worked as a CDL driver in the construction industry. He enjoyed gardening and had a special appreciation for old trucks and cars. He also loved motorcycles and enjoyed riding, even with their beloved furbabies, until it became difficult. Michelle Ruth Wooster Rauch was born December 17, 1966, in Peoria, Illinois, to her mother, Ruth Wooster. She was later adopted by Irwin and Shirley Rauch and grew up in Arizona. Michelle was quiet and meek in many ways, but beneath that gentle nature was a fierce strength. Michelle dedicated her working life to caring for others. She worked as a CNA at Renaissance in Canton and at Heartland, where she specialized in caring for people with special needs. Her work reflected the qualities that came naturally to her: compassion, patience, kindness, and a deeply caring heart. Timothy and Michelle shared a love story that began with a blind date and grew into a life spent side by side. They were united in marriage on April 16, 1994, in Canton, Illinois, and from that day forward, they did nearly everything together. Their love for one another was evident in the way they lived their lives as husband and wife, best friends, and partners in every adventure. Together, they created a family centered on love and devotion. They were blessed with four children: Nathan, Stephanie, Diedra, and Devin. Their seven grandchildren were the apples of their eyes. They enjoyed watching them play sports, attending school functions, and sharing countless adventures with them. About six years ago, Timothy and Michelle made their home in Salem, Missouri, where they became members of New Home Baptist Church and made many new friends. Above all, they simply enjoyed spending time with the people they loved. Timothy and Michelle passed away together August 25, 2026, in Salem, Missouri. They are survived by their children: Nathan Tompkins of Salem, MO; Stephanie Cavaness and husband Randal of Canton, IL, Diedra Tompkins and Derek Bowman of Grinnell, IA, and Devin Tompkins of Salem, MO; and their grandchildren: Micah, Alanah, Brooklynn, Beaty, Cayson, Vincent, and Thea. Timothy is also survived by his siblings: Gregory Tompkins, Susie Williams, Tammy Gudzinskas, Ronald Tompkins Jr., and Darren Tompkins; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents. Michelle is also survived by her mother: Ruth Johnson of Salem, MO; sister: Rebeca Rucker; as well as several other relatives, and friends. Preceding her in death were her adopted parents and her brother: John Wooster. Timothy and Michelle's love story began with a blind date, but it became a lifetime of choosing one another, walking through life together, and building a family they cherished. Their greatest legacy will be the love they gave to each other and to their family, and the many memories they leave behind. Celebration of Life Services were held at New Home Baptist Church Monday, August 31, 2026, with Pastor Charlie Younger officiating.
