Morris "Bud" Samuel Apperson Jr.

Morris "Bud" Samuel Apperson Jr. was born on October 11, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri to Morris and Hazel (McClelland) Apperson Sr. and passed away on June 12, 2020, in Chesterfield, Missouri at age of eighty years. Bud grew up near Dry Fork Creek and attended school at Rolla High. He entered the United States Navy on June 6, 1958 and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge on May 14, 1962. After his time in the military, Bud met the love of his life, Judy Maureen Cotner. Bud and Judy were united in marriage on July 28, 1964 and together shared fifty-five years of marriage and were blessed with two sons: Steven and Robert. Bud worked hard to provide for his family, during his working years he worked for Chevrolet Parts and Aalco Paving but found his career at the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 513. Bud was a heavy equipment operator and retired after fifty-eight years of service. During his spare time, Bud could be found in the field with his Mules or out by the water fishing. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family. Some of his fond memories include deer camp with his sons and grandchildren. Bud was a devoted husband to Judy and caring father to his sons. He treasured the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they meant the world to him. Bud was a longtime member of the Salem Masonic Lodge #225, he served fifty years. Bud is survived by his loving wife: Judy Apperson of the home; sons: Steven Apperson and wife Denise of Millersburg, MO and Robert Apperson and girlfriend Carla of Union, MO; brother: John Apperson and wife Virginia of Granite City, IL; grandchildren: A.J. Papp and wife Naomi, Kevin Papp, Bradly Apperson and wife Kylee, Rachel Hinderliter and husband Keith, Samantha Pettus, and Blaine Apperson; great-grandchildren: Madison, Isabella, Nicholas, and Henry; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents: Morris and Hazel Apperson Sr. and two brothers: Jimmy and Gerald Apperson. Bud will be remembered for his contagious smile, big heart, and hard work ethic. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services for Morris “Bud” Samuel Apperson Jr. were held Monday, June 15, 2020 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Tim Hill officiating. Song selections played were “My Old Man”, “In The Garden”, “How Great Thou Art”, and “He Walked On Water”. Serving as Pallbearers were Robert Apperson, Bradly Apperson, Blaine Apperson, Keith Hinderliter, Gary Apperson, Gene Shaw, John Pace, and Marty Cotner. Honorary Pallbearers were Clifford Jadwin, Fred Blanco, Jim Brugger, John Apperson, Rich Konopka, Harold Stephens, and Juan Contreras. Military Honors was provided by the United States Navy and American Legion Post 99. Burial was in the Cotner Cemetery. Masonic Service provided by the Salem Masonic Lodge #225 was held Sunday, June 14, 2020 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
