Opal Frances (Brakeman) Hutson

Opal Frances (Brakeman) Hutson, 91 of Salem, Missouri loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep and was delivered on the wings of angels to her heavenly home on August 12, 2023. Opal will forever be cherished by the love of her life, best friend, and husband of 44 years, William (Bill) Hutson, her children Robin Hammond, Tracey Maldonado, Jean Hutson, John Hutson; grandchildren: Sara Arnold and husband Jay, Ted Snyder and wife Tammy, Joseph Hayes, Amanda Martinez and soon to be husband Marcos Bedolla, Shavonne Snyder, Desire Reyes; Shaunna Moore, and Jessica Hutson; great-grandmother to Kristen Chatterson, Steffanie Snyder, Steven Snyder, Daniel Snyder, Austin Ainsley Arnold, Leigh Hayes, Neo Hayes, Liam Hayes, Ebony Jackson, Robert Brown, Lexus Barnes, Demari Snyder, Tachae' Anderson, Carrlo Anderson, Elijah Brown, Rayna Franklin, Josh Hutson, Christian Martinez, Catalina Bedolla; great-great grandmother to Falynn Inman, Catherine Hughes, David Martinez, Justice Jackson, A'Jaylah Jackson, Xerces Brown, Khiari Lowder, Mario Webb Jr., Amara Anderson. Opal was born in the farming community of Elm Creek, Nebraska on December 1, 1931 and she resided in the area until 1948 when she moved to southern California. She remained there for many years before she met William and they married in 1979. Not long after they relocated to William's family homestead in Boss, MO where they spent 21 years before finally settling in Salem, MO. Opal was the last remaining member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by her mother and father, Ethel May (Nichols) Brakeman and Leland Dow Brakeman; brother Darrol Brakeman; sisters Ruthie Lowry Bartow, Dorothy Saunders, Hazel Storm; daughter Frances Fay Hayes and husband Steven. Opal will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, quirky sense of humor, kindness towards others, and the love of her family and friends. She will remain in our hearts forever and be dearly missed by all. Family will gather for a Celebration of Life in Redlands, CA on November 5, 2023.
