Patricia Lucille (Payne) Givens

Patricia Lucille (Payne) Givens was born July 11, 1946, in Cuba, Missouri to William Richard and Artie Marie (Malone) Payne and departed this life January 7, 2024, in Salem, Missouri at the age of seventy-seven years. Patricia was united in marriage to the love of her life Roy “Sonny” Givens in May 1971. They shared fifty-two years of marriage and lasting memories together. Patricia was the proud mother of five children: Debra, Billy, Melissa, Frank, and Tammy. Patricia had a fulfilling career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Salem Care Center for thirty-eight years before retiring at the age of sixty-two. Her dedication to caring for others was unmatched. Her compassionate nature shone through in every interaction she had with her patients, and most of her patients called her “Mom”. Patricia had a passion for collecting roosters and quilting. Throughout the years she had made thousands of quilts for her family and friends. Each of her children and grandchildren have a special quilt to treasure. Christmas was her favorite time of the year; she would buy gifts for everyone. Most important to her was her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of her eye, and she loved spending time with them. Patricia was a lady of great faith and a member of Salem Faith Assembly Church for many years. She had a giving heart and loved to volunteer with Salem Faith Missions. Patricia is survived by her loving husband: Roy “Sonny” Givens of Salem, MO; children: Debra Griffith and husband Joe of Salem, MO; Billy Parsons and Tina of Salem, MO, Melissa Parsons and Riley of Piedmont, MO, Frank Parsons and wife Stephanie of Salem, MO, and Tammy Arnett and husband Danny of Salem, MO; siblings: John Payne of Texas, David Payne of Salem, MO, Carl Payne and wife Vickie of Salem, MO, Mary Martin of Salem, MO, Hazel Shaw of Salem, MO, Richard Payne of Iowa, Leonard Payne and wife Donna of Columbia, MO, Dorothy Porta and husband Chuck of Lonedell, MO, Lisa Mirgaux, and Tim Payne and wife Rhonda of Bonne Terre, MO; grandchildren: Christina, Shane, Michael, Cody, Somer, Brandon, Christopher, Patty, Brandon, Maudie, and James, Zach, Kayla, Bailey, Silas, Levi, Sarah, Nathan, Ariel, Paige, and Davin; great-grandchildren: Titus, Patience, Melanie, Amelia, Lynlee, Levi, Lindon, Beatrice, Atticus, Liberty, Nova, Andra, Alexis, Adrianna, Alfonso, Nathan, Ethan, and Braydon; two new great-grandchildren: Keelan and Emerie; two special nieces: Tina Brewer and Jennifer Payne; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her parents: Richard and Marie Payne; father and mother-in-law: Clarence and Vorena Kaffer; sister: Sharon; and her brother: Joe. Patricia will be remembered fondly by those who loved her most. Her sweet gentle spirit will never be forgotten. Her kindness and selflessness touch the lives of many. She will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Patricia Lucille (Payne) Givens were held Thursday, January 11, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Joe Griffith Jr. officiating. Song selections played were “Amazing Grace”, “Heaven Is Just A Sin Away”, and “Go Rest High On That Mountain”. Serving as Pallbearers were Frank Parsons, David Payne, Johnny Shaw, Kevin Shaw, Roger Counts, and Danny Arnett. Honorary Pallbearers were Joseph Griffith III, Christopher Gibbs, Jaren Griffith, Zach Parsons, and Richard Payne. Burial was in the North Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Patricia Givens to help with final expenses and left with Wilson Mortuary.
