Ronald J. Conaway

Ronald Jay Conaway was born August 31, 1961, in Springfield, Illinois, to Calvin and Lucille (Dillbeck) Conaway. He grew up in Salem and graduated with the class of 1979 from Salem High School. Ron was the proud father of Ronald Jr., Brooke, Brock, Kyrah, Jesse, and Jessica. He was also blessed with two stepdaughters: Jennifer and Veronica. His family was most important to him, and he loved spending time with them. Ron treasured making memories with his precious grandchildren and loved watching them learn and grow. Ron was a hard worker and worked in the construction industry as a roofer. He was a man with many talents and enjoyed fixing and tinkering on cars. Ron was an avid outdoorsman. He liked deer and turkey hunting as well as mudding and canoeing. Ron also enjoyed taking trips to Illinois visiting his family and friends. He enjoyed most being on the open road riding his motorcycle. Ron departed this life May 27, 2023, in Rolla, Missouri at the age of sixty-one years. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, children: Ronald Conaway Jr. and spouse Megann Temple of Rolla, MO, Brooke Conaway and spouse Bryan Carty of Salem, MO, Brock Conaway and spouse Amanda Yeggy of Rolla, MO, Kyrah Conaway and spouse Aaron Robinson of Rolla, MO and Jesse Conaway of Fulton, MO; stepdaughters: Jennifer Elmer and Veronica Collins and spouse Patrick; seventeen grandchildren; many brothers and sisters as well as a host of extended family, and special friends. Preceding him in death, daughter: Jessica Conaway; parents: Calvin and Lucille Conaway; sisters: MaryAnn, Shirley, Linda, and Carol; and brothers: Calvin Jr., Richard, Eugene, and Roger. Ron enjoyed the simple things in life and lived life to the fullest. He will be forever missed by those who loved him most. Funeral Services for Ronald “Ron” Jay Conaway were held Monday, June 5, 2023, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Lyndell Decker officiating. Song selections played were “Knocking On Heaven’s Door”, “Simple Man”, and “Last Dollar (Fly Away)”. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Ron Conaway and left at the funeral home. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
