Ronnie Eugene Cagle

Ronnie Eugene Cagle was born in Centralia, Illinois on July 12, 1942. He was a resident of a Special Needs Facility in Sandoval, Illinois and in 1979, Jim and Judy Watson of Vernon, Illinois took Ronnie into their care and became his legal guardians. As time went by Jim and Judy’s family had begun to grow and Ronnie would spend more time visiting Neil and Linda and their family, who eventually would become Ronnie’s legal guardians. Ronnie loved going fishing and liked sitting on the porch in the summer listening to his radio. He was always planning to buy him a red truck and get his license. Ronnie enjoyed spending time with his family and going to the movies. He truly loved going to the soccer field to watch the kids play, always with a cup of coffee. Ronnie was a sweet loving person who had a contagious big smile and a gentle loving heart for everyone he met. He loved celebrating Christmas, seeing Santa Claus, and celebrating his birthday. Every night at dinner Ronnie would ask Jesus to come down to the table. We know Ronnie is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in heaven. Ronnie passed away peacefully Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, Illinois at the age of seventy-nine years. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his adopted family of over forty years: Neil Robertson, Rory Robertson, Rhonda Schaefer, Audra and (Brian) Bushue, Aaren Dillon (Eric), Ellen Davis (Kyle), Emily Bushue, Isaac Schaefer, Elijah Schaefer, Ryan Bushue, Graham Dillion, Kate Dillon, Emma Davis, Bryce Davis and Taylor Dillon; and many dear friends. Preceding him in death, his mother: Betty Curtis; brothers: Charles and Greg; and legal guardian: Linda Robertson. Ronnie was a beloved brother, son, and friend. He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services for Ronnie Eugene Cagle were held Tuesday, December 28, 2021 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Parker officiating. Song selections played were “Over the Next Hill We’ll Be Home”, “You Raise Me Up”, “Will the Circle Be Unbroken”, and “I’ll Fly Away”. Serving as Pallbearers were Rory Robertson, Brian Bushue, Isaac Schaefer, Elijah Schaefer, Ryan Bushue, and John Watson. Burial was in the Boss Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Island City Baptist Church in Wilmington, Illinois.
