Ruby Evelyn (Medley) Duncan

Ruby Evelyn (Medley) Duncan was born August 3, 1942, in Salem, Missouri, to Everett and Rozella (Kelley) Medley. She was joined in marriage on August 27, 1960, to her husband, Robert Dean Duncan. From that union they were blessed with two children: Lisa and Scott. Ruby loved children and throughout her working years she worked at Noah’s Ark Childcare and Wee Care before becoming a cafeteria lady at Salem High School. If you ever got to know Ruby you became one of her children, whether you went through her lunch line, or she cared for you at daycare, you were special to her. Ruby took great pride in keeping her home nice and tidy. She loved working in her yard and enjoyed helping at Common Grounds. Her unwavering love and dedication to her family and friends was evident to those around her. She cherished making memories with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruby spent her life serving the Lord. She was a lifetime member of Grace Community Church. Ruby was loving, kind, and forgiving. She always found the good in others. If you met Ruby, you knew what true love was. Ruby entered into eternal rest January 7, 2024, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years. She leaves behind a legacy of faith and kindness in shoes that will be hard to fill. Ruby is survived by two loving children: Lisa Norris and husband Ronald of Salem, MO and Scott Duncan and wife Amber of Salem, MO; one sister: Donna Dees of Salem, MO; six grandchildren: Julie Norris and Justin Smith, Courtney Barton and husband Dennis, Chelsey Miller and husband George, Austin Duncan, Liam Duncan, and Riley Duncan; six great-grandchildren: Kallie, Charlee, Ryder, Greyson, Cole, and Evelyn; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, were her husband: Robert Duncan; parents: Everett and Rozella Medley; infant brother: Charles Ray Medley; brother: Dwain Medley and wife Betty; and her sister: Faye Crocker and husband Jerry. Ruby will be very missed, but when a light as bright as hers shines on the world it can’t help but change it. So, while she may be gone, she will not be forgotten. Funeral Services for Ruby Evelyn (Medley) Duncan were held Friday, January 12, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Terry Davis officiating. Cheryl Davis shared the obituary and a few family memories. Courtney Barton shared a special eulogy. Song selections played were “Jesus Loves Me”, “Then Show Me Around”, and “Oh How I Love Jesus”. Serving as Pallbearers were Stacy Crocker, Jason Crocker, Kenny Woolf, Lloyd Duncan, Mike Smith, and George Myers. Honorary Pallbearers were George Miller, Dennis Barton, Bryce Steward, Austin Duncan, and Liam Duncan. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Ruby Duncan to the Children’s Ministry at Grace Community Church and left with Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
