Sandra Kay (Girard) Smith

Sandra Kay (Girard) Smith was born July 4, 1950, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, to Robert and Mary (Mann) Girard. She entered eternal rest on January 8, 2024, in Rolla, Missouri at the age of seventy-three years. Sandra was united in marriage to Nick Charles Smith, on August 28, 1968, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. As newlyweds, they nicknamed each other “Pocahontas” and “Funny Face”. Theirs was a love story for ages. They loved and supported each other through life’s ups and downs. They shared fifty-one years of marriage together before Nick’s passing April 1, 2019. Sandra and Nick were blessed with four daughters: Angela, Veronica, Yvette, and Brittany. Sandra was a loving and dedicated mother who nurtured the minds and hearts of her children along with the others she cared for in her home. She was a peacekeeper and when her children were in trouble, she would bring out her Bible and read scripture to them. Sandra was a devoted pastor’s wife to Nick and his forty-five-year Pastoral Ministry. She supported him daily and enjoyed working with the Ladies Ministry, Women Retreats, and Youth Ministry. She was a huge intercessory prayer warrior. Sandra loved reading and studying her Bible, she would read ten chapters every morning until her vision started to decline. Sandra was a member of Salem Pentecostal Church of God. Sandra is survived by her loving daughters: Angela Hill and husband Marty of Kimberling City, MO, Veronica Lato and husband Joseph III of Salem, MO, Yvette Smith and husband Troy of Bonne Terre, MO, and Brittany Miller and husband Dustin of Rolla, MO; grandchildren: Dakota Richards, Austin Hill, Allie Lato, Hunter Lato, Nick Lato, T.J. Smith, and Mariah Miller; great-granddaughter: Lynix Richards; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her loving husband of fifty-one years: Nick Smith; parents: Robert and Mary Girard; and sister: Robin Jacobs; brothers: Robert, Dennis, Eddie, and Stanley Girard. Sandra was a rock to her husband, her daughters were her life, and her grandchildren were her world. Her faith, family, church, and friends were most important to her. She was a great example of the Proverbs Thirty-One Woman. Sandra leaves a legacy that will be treasured by those who loved her most. She will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Sandra Kay (Girard) Smith were held Saturday, January 13, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Bishop Bob McGee, Pastor Troy Smith, and Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Special Music was provided by Doyle Hobson, and Kevin and Kim Abney singing “Momma’s Teaching Angels How To Sing”, “I Wish”, “I Want Us To Be Together In Heaven”, and “Home Is Sounding Sweeter”. Serving as Pallbearers were Joe Lato III, Marty Hill, Cody Richards, Austin Hill, T.J. Smith, and Dustin Miller. Honorary Pallbearer was Les Richardson. Burial was in the Boss Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Sandra Smith to Salem Pentecostal Church of God and left with Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
