Sarrah Elizabeth (Heathcock) Pickering

Sarrah Elizabeth (Heathcock) Pickering was born on March 4, 1979 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Joe and Susan (Stewart) Heathcock. Sarrah grew up in Salem and graduated with the Class of 1997 from Salem High School. She went to further her education at Missouri State University. Sarrah had a passion for music; she played the piano and trombone. While in high school, Sarrah was in the marching band, and at MSU, she performed with Village People and at Disney World. Sarrah began her career in business management at McDonald’s, followed by Block Buster Video, Game Stop, and Cost Plus World Market. Part of her job at World Market was opening new stores in big cities; Boston, New York, Dallas, and her own home store in Tyler, Texas. Sarrah lived between Springfield, Missouri and Dallas, Texas, on returning to Salem in 2016, she pursued an education in information technology. She worked in food service at Echo Bluff State Park and SEMO Behavioral Center. Sarrah loved to read, especially the classics. She was artistic, won several art contests, and had an eye for design, fashion, and décor. Sarrah was a computer nerd and was the one to call for technology issues. She was an awesome cook and baker and liked preparing, eating, and sharing food. Sarrah loved Starbucks, sushi, and fine chocolates. Sarrah cherished her cats and leaves behind Oliver and Eliot, she was preceded in death by Louis. More recently, Sarrah became a fan of llamas and alpacas. Sarrah was saved and baptized at New Home Church when she was young. She recently returned to the Lord, for which her family is eternally grateful. Sarrah passed away on November 27, 2020 at the St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of forty-one years. She leaves behind to cherish her memories her loving mother: Susan Jordan of Salem, MO; brother: Nick Harris of Salem, MO; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Preceding her in death, brother: Anthony Harris, father: Joe Heathcock; and step-father: Carol Jordan. Sarrah will be remembered for her sweet personality, beautiful smile, and contagious laugh. She will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her. Celebration of Life for Sarrah Elizabeth (Heathcock) Pickering was held Friday, December 4, 2020 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Matt Milligan and Todd Cummings officiating. Song selections played were “Hallelujah”, “Amazing Grace, My Chains Are Gone”, “Even If”, and “Revelation Song”. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
