Shirley Henrietta (Vonderlage) Kidd

Shirley Henrietta (Vonderlage) Kidd was born September 27, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the only child born to Arthur Carl and Lillian Rose (Schmidt) Vonderlage. Shirley attended Gethsemane Grade School and graduated from Lutheran High School. On May 24, 1958, Shirley was united in marriage to Kenneth Edward Kidd at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church. They shared sixty years of marriage and lasting memories together before his passing January 10, 2019. Shirley and Kenneth were blessed with two children: Cynthia and Douglas. Shirley was a secretary with the Army Medical School for several years until she and Kenneth started their family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, dedicated to a life of family values. She created a home full of warmth and love. They lived in St. Louis, Missouri until 1990 when they moved to the family farm in Salem. In her spare time, Shirley loved doing crafts. She was an avid bowler and a part of a bowling league in St. Louis for many years. Most importantly Shirley had a deep love for her family, church, and life on their farm. She cherished her grandchildren and adored her great-granddaughters. Shirley was baptized at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in St. Louis, Missouri. She lived a life with the intention of serving others, she had a true servant’s heart. Shirley was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and served on the Ladies Aide. Shirley entered eternal rest, on her ninety-second birthday, September 27, 2024, in Creve Coeur, Missouri. Those left behind to treasure her memory include her son: Douglas Kidd and wife Tammy of Cedar Hill, MO; grandchildren: Lindsay Lehmann, Lacey Lehmann, Austin Lehmann, and Dakota Kidd and wife Taylor; great-granddaughters: Aubree, Alayna, and Amelia; extended family and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her husband: Kenneth Kidd; daughter: Cynthia Kay Kidd; and parents: Arthur and Lillian (Schmidt) Vonderlage. Shirley will be remembered for her fun-loving and strong-willed nature. She will be forever missed by those who loved her most. Funeral Services for Shirley Henrietta (Vonderlage) Kidd were held Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor John Perling officiating. Hymns played were “Abide With Me”, “Nearer My God To Thee”, and “I Know My Redeemer Lives”. Serving as Pallbearers were Douglas Kidd, Dakota Kidd, Austin Lehmann, Dan Lehmann, Wade Cook, and Brett Lehmann. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Shirley Kidd to the Salem Lutheran Church and left with Wilson Mortuary.
