Velma Rae (Eudy) Rohrer

Velma was born in St. Louis, Missouri, June 16, 1936. She is the daughter of William Eudy and Velma “Belle” Hall, as well as the sister of Harriette Eudy Schaffner. She was affectionately known as Tudor by her family. On March 6, 1965, Velma was united marriage to the love of her life, William Eugene Rohrer. They were blessed to share fifty-eight years creating lasting memories together before his passing on December 1, 2023. Velma and William never had any children of their own but “adopted” many and took them under their wings. Velma had, and has, many relatives within Shannon Couty, Missouri. She loved visiting in the summer with her relatives, including the Hall’s, Prugh’s, and Eudy’s. Our family has spent many summer days at the creek, on the porch drinking tea, and in the summer kitchen canning. Many hours were spent talking about our lineage and how we “just might be related to everyone in Shannon County”. Velma and William were blessed with musical talents, playing the piano and singing. They would use their talent to bless others. On especially hot, or cold days, the family would spend time around the piano singing songs written by Velma and William. Velma was always eager to sing and share William’s gospel songs even to the day she passed away. Velma had an effervescent personality and would brighten anyone’s day she came across. Her passion and vigor for life was contagious. She had a great love of genealogy, art, fashion, music, cooking, entertaining, gardening, and real estate, which she never stopped teaching to those around her. Velma entered into eternal rest February 26, 2024, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of eighty-seven years. Those left behind to treasure her memory include a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her loving husband: William E. Rohrer; and parents: William and Belle (Hall) Eudy. Both Velma and William will be sorely missed by their many friends and family members. We take comfort in knowing they have both walked through the gates of Heaven and have been reunited with many loved ones. Funeral Services for Velma Rae (Eudy) Rohrer and William Eugene Rohrer were held Saturday, March 16, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Kathleen Hamilton officiating. Song selections played were “Scars In Heaven” and “I’ll Never Roam”. Serving as Pallbearers were Meritt Baker, Todd Hamilton, Matthew Mertens, Danny Rohrer, Nathaniel Rohrer, and Victor Rohrer. Honorary Pallbearers were Michael Mertens and Martin Rohrer. Burial was in the Bourbon Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
