Verna Ueldine Plank Cope Bullock

Verna Ueldine Plank Cope Bullock was born August 22, 1935, in Madison, Illinois. She was the fourth oldest of Harry Vernon and Sylvia Ella (Lancaster) Plank’s sixteen children. Verna left this life on February 3, 2025, Salem, Missouri at the age of eighty-nine years. Verna was united in marriage to Bob Cope and to this union they were blessed with three children: Rita Jo, Sylvia “Sybe”, and Bobby Joe, they shared twenty-seven years together before his passing. Later in life, Verna met and married Jack Bullock, they shared many years and memories before his passing. Verna spent her working years in childcare and home health. She was known as Verna to friends and Ma Cope to the many, many little ones that were entrusted with their care at her home daycare in Rolla, Missouri. Verna had a big heart for children and the elderly, always a caregiver for small children and others who could not take care of themselves. Verna was the life of the party and enjoyed times with her large Plank family. She was a social butterfly and always the center of attention. Some of her favorite times were family get togethers where she had the chance to talk and laugh with those she loved most. In her free time, she could be found sitting on the porch or working on a puzzle. Verna was a lifelong member of the Seventh Adventist Church which held a special place in her heart. Her family was blessed to do the construction work on the church from the ground up. Verna’s faith in the Lord was evident in her everyday life. Verna is survived by her three children: Rita Jo Medlock, Sylvia “Sybe” Shomshor (Tresa Pratt) and Bobby Joe Cope II; two grandsons: Jason Benton Medlock and Anthony Wayne Shomshor (the two brightest lights of her life); three great-grandchildren: Bryce, Ryker and Tarryn (three additional loves of her life). In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by the five remaining Plank children brothers: Don, Haden (Mary Lou), Carl, Gary (Carol) and Richard (Carol); brothers-in-law: Irvin Cooksey, Ralph Kelley, and Steve Ladd; sister-in-law: Linda Plank; and a wealth of nieces and nephews. Verna is preceded in death by her first husband: Bob Cope I; second husband: Jack Bullock; parents: Harry and Sylvia Plank; and many of her siblings. Verna was beautiful inside and out with a heart of gold. She will be deeply missed by those who loved her most. Graveside Services for Verna Ueldine Plank Cope Bullock were held Friday, February 7, 2025, in the North Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Craig Wiles officiating. The eulogy and prayer were shared by family. Serving as Pallbearers were Anthony Shomshor, Jason Medlock, Bob Cope II, and Tresa Pratt. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
