Vickie Kay (Canaday) Frits

Vickie Kay (Canaday) Frits was born May 27, 1964, in Rolla, Missouri, to Howard and Beverly (Reed) Canaday. She grew up in Salem, Missouri and graduated with the class of 1983 from Salem High School. Vickie was united in marriage to Jeffrey Frizzell and to this union they were blessed with one daughter, Jackie. Vickie and Jeffrey shared several years of memories before his passing. She later met the love of her life, Darrel Frits and on June 25, 1996, they were united in marriage. Vickie and Darrel shared thirty-four years of memories together. Vickie was a devoted wife, dedicated mother, and doting grandmother. She enjoyed watching the birds, shopping and antiquing. She has many fond memories with her family floating on the Current River, riding horses and the side-by-side. Vickie loved her grandson and enjoyed any time they spent together. Vickie had a sweet admirable spirit and was truly one of a kind. Her family and friends were most important to her. Vickie was strong in her faith, a fighter, and a true inspiration to many. Vickie departed this life Monday, April 17, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family at the age of fifty-eight years. Those left behind to treasure her memory are her loving husband: Darrel Frits of Salem, MO; daughter: Jackie Powell and husband Stacey of Salem, MO; mother: Beverly Canaday of Salem, MO; sister: Carrie Skaggs and husband Jimmie of Salem, MO; grandson: Waylon Powell; nephew: Dalton Skaggs; as well as a host of extended family and dear friends. Preceding her in death, her first husband: Jeffrey Frizzell and her father: Howard Canaday. Vickie was a joy to be around. She was filled with love and compassion. Her joyous spirit, beautiful smile, and contagious laugh will never be forgotten. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, courage, dignity, and devotion. To know her was to truly love and admire her. She will be deeply missed. Funeral Services for Vickie Kay (Canaday) Frits were held Saturday, April 22, 2023, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Mike Smith officiating. Song selections played were “Over You”, “Beat You There”, “Lead Me Home”, and “Don’t You Forget About Me”. Serving as Pallbearers were Raymond Nothaus, Wade Sisco, Raymond Quick, Danny Medlock, Rick Hoyt, and Chester Belleville. Honorary Pallbearers were Tommy Whelan, Artis “Red” Quick, Jason Smith, and Lonnie Southards. Burial was in the Family Cemetery.
