Vicky Dao (Troung) Mercer

Vicky Dao (Troung) Mercer was born on December 6, 1947. Born and raised in Vietnam, she resided there until moving to Hawaii at the age of twenty-six. Vicky met the love of her life, Phillip Mercer, while he was serving in the U.S. Marine Corp and stationed in Hawaii. They were united in marriage May 10, 1979, in Success, Missouri, and to this union blessed to share six children: John, Angelina, Robert, Betty, Phillip, and Steven. Vicky was a hard worker and a joy to work with. Throughout her working career, she was employed with Hagale Industries, Briggs and Stratton, and Walmart. She was an excellent seamstress with a talented eye. She liked to sew for her family and friends and made many of her own easter dresses, baby dolls, and Mr. T dolls. Vicky spent her life selflessly caring for her family, making every holiday and birthday extra special, and cooking delicious homemade meals. Her family and friends enjoyed her fried rice, egg rolls, and fish sauce. Vicky’s life was always centered around her family. She deeply loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished the memories they made together. Vicky had a heart of gold and loved helping others. She was a model of kindness, generosity, loyalty, care, and touched the lives of many. Vicky had great faith in the Lord and was a member of Gladden Baptist Church. Vicky entered eternal rest on February 23, 2024, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of seventy-six years. Those left behind to treasure her memory include her loving husband: Phillip Mercer of Salem, MO; children: John Howard and wife Carrie of Salem, MO, Angelina Conway and husband Steve of Salem, MO, Robert Howard and wife Lori of St. Louis, MO, Betty Mercer of Salem, MO, Phillip Mercer and wife Stacy of Salem, MO, and Steven Mercer of Alabama; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; extended family and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her parents and sister. Vicky will be remembered for her beautiful smile and giving nature. She brought light, love, and happiness to those around her, and her legacy will continue to shine brightly. Celebration of Life for Vicky Dao (Troung) Mercer was held Sunday, March 10, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating.
