Wayne Williams

Wayne Williams was born on September 25, 1933, in Joy, Missouri. He was one of six children born to James Marley and Maudie Esther (Hulsey) Williams. Wayne grew up in Montauk, Missouri and at a young age started working at Westinghouse Electric Company. On January 27, 1954, Wayne proudly enlisted in the United States Army and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge. Wayne served during the Korean War and for his honorable service, he earned the National Defense Service Medal. Wayne was united in marriage to the love of his life, Inos Whitby, on September 13, 1957, and to this union blessed with two children, Michael and Joan. Wayne was a devoted husband and loving father. He took great pride in caring for and providing for his family. In 1995, Wayne started working at Montauk State Park in the construction maintenance department. He retired after twenty years of dedication and service to the community. In his spare time, Wayne loved to garden and generously shared his bounty with his neighbors and friends. He was a talented musician and truly enjoyed playing his guitar. Wayne cherished spending time with his family and making memories with his adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren that he treasured. It was evident in everything he did that his faith, family, and friends were most important to him. Wayne was a strong man of faith and longtime member of Salem Church of Christ. Wayne entered eternal rest on August 27, 2023, in Salem, Missouri at the age of eighty-nine years. Those left to treasure his memory are his loving wife: Inos Williams of Salem, MO; daughter: Joan Raulston and husband Randal of Salem, MO; sister: Velma Thompson of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Jon, Jessica, and Jacob; great-grandchildren: Elizabeth and Savannah; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death, his son: Michael Williams; parents: James and Maudie Williams; brother: Marley Williams; and sisters: Lola Krepps, Mildred Schafer, and Eula Poor. Waynes leaves behind a great legacy of love, devotion, and service. His memories will live on in the many lives he touched along the way. Wayne will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Wayne Williams were held Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at the Salem Church of Christ with Pastor Rick Pitchford officiating. Congregational Hymns were led by Tom Fleener. Serving as Pallbearers were Randal Raulston, Jacob Raulston, Jon Price, David McDonald, Stewart Johnson, and Kenny Lawrence. Honorary Pallbearers were Jessica Raulston and daughters Elizabeth and Savannah. Military Honors was provided by the American Legion Post 99 and U.S. Army Honor Team. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Wayne Williams to SACBA for the Community Jam Sessions and left with Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
