Zachery Shawn McMurry

Zachery Shawn McMurry was born on April 27, 1989 in Rolla, Missouri to Patrick “Shawn” and Laura “Laurie” McMurry. He grew up in Salem and attended Salem High School. Zachery’s working years include working on the railroad, Salem Wood Products, and MFA. He was an all-around tinker and handyman, a jack of all trades. Zachery truly enjoyed working with his hands and helping others with their vehicles, lawnmowers, boats, and four-wheelers. He could fix anything. Zachery was blessed with three sons: Preston, Holden, and Kasen. He was a loving, caring, tender-hearted, generous, and thoughtful father. Zachery was very proud of them and valued spending time and making memories together. Zachery had many interests and lived life to the fullest. He liked the outdoors and could often be found camping, fishing the creeks, and exploring the caves. Zachery was an outgoing person, who had a contagious smile and will be remembered for his fearless, daring personality. Zachery passed away on June 12, 2021 in Salem, Missouri at the age of thirty-two years. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving children: Preston, Holden, and Kasen McMurry of Salem, MO; mother: Laurie McMurry and Kevin Purcell of Salem, MO; father: Shawn McMurry and Valerie Rains of Ellington, MO; siblings: Tasha McMurry of Poplar Bluff, MO, Michael McMurry of Ellington, MO, Shawna McMurry of Ellington, MO, Joshua McMurry and wife Kaila of Ellington, MO, and Mason McMurry of Patterson, MO; grandparents: Gary and Kay Tilford of Salem, MO, Connie Conway and Robert Fudge of Salem, MO, and Toni Earls of Salem, MO; special friends: Trish Mendenhall of Salem, MO and Eion Agers of Salem, MO; other relatives and dear friends. Zachery is preceded in death by, brother: Cody McMurry; grandfather: Guy McMurry; and uncle: Randy White. Zachery was loved by many and will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Zachery Shawn McMurry were held Tuesday, June 15, 2021 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Richard LaBrash Sr. officiating. Song selections played were “The Smoking Section”, “Heaven”, and “Keep The Wolves Away”. Serving as Pallbearers were Brett White, Ian McLendon, Josh McMurry, Michael McMurry, Patrick Mendenhall, and Eion Agers. Honorary Pallbearers were James Wood, Dylan Burke, John Chaplin, and Ryan White. Burial was in the North Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
