Albert Oman Lewis

Albert Oman Lewis was born December 25, 1937, in Gladden, Missouri. He was the only child of Granvel Oman and Eveline Beulah (Fitzgerald) Lewis. Oman started working at a young age and learned the value of hard work and dedication. Oman enlisted into the United States Army National Guard and served faithfully for eight years until his honorable discharge. During his time, he earned awards for marksmanship. Oman met Connie Dunning while in high school, they were high school sweethearts, and united in marriage on February 15, 1958. Oman and Connie were blessed sixty-four years of memories and five children: Cheryl, Dena, Alisa, Jeff, and Joel. Oman took great pride in providing for his family. He was employed with the Teamster Union hauling Ford’s for many years before retiring. Oman was a car enthusiast and enjoyed collecting classic cars. Oman was a man of faith and member of Gladden Baptist Church. His faith, family, and friends were most important to him. He valued spending time and making memories with family. Oman cherished his grandchildren and treasured his great-grandchildren. Oman entered into eternal rest December 12, 2022 at the age of eighty-four years. Survivors include, his loving wife: Connie Lewis of Maryland Heights, MO; children: Cheryl Mayfield and husband Scott of St. Charles, MO, Dena Lewis of Maryland Heights, MO, Alisa Krewet and husband Paul of Glencoe, MO, Jeff Lewis of Union, MO, Joel Lewis and wife Missy of Jackson, MO; grandchildren: Justin Lewis, Stephen Zielinski and wife Julie, Sarah Haney and husband Sean, Catherine Moore and husband Jesse, Bink Lewis and wife Erika, Shelby Lewis, Eli Lewis, McKenna Ratliff; great-grandchildren: Everett Jarecki, Stella Haney, Silas Haney, and Olivia Moore; as well as extended family, and dear friends. Preceding him in death, his parents: Granvel and Eveline Lewis and grandson: Justin Sutterer. Oman will be remembered for his love of storytelling and amazing ability to recall detailed information of every car he or family members ever owned. He will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Albert Oman Lewis were held Saturday, December 17, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Jim Privett officiating. Song selections played were “Family of God” and “Amazing Grace”. Serving as Pallbearers were Jeff Lewis, Joel Lewis, Justin Lewis, Stephen Zielinski, Bink Lewis, and Jesse Moore. Military Honors was provided by the American Legion Post 99 and Missouri Honors Team. Burial was in the Gladden Empire Cemetery.
