U.S. Army Retiree, Arthur "Art" Lee Pilkington was born June 4, 1952 in Oneonta, Alabama and passed away June 24, 2019 at Phelps Health of Rolla, Missouri at the age of sixty-seven years. Art entered the United States Army at a young age and served his country faithfully until his retirement after twenty years of service. During his time in the military he was able to travel the world. For his faithful service, Art earned many decorations, medals, ribbons and awards to include: Meritorious Service Medal 2D, Army Commendation Medal 2D, Army Achievement Medal 4th, Army Good Conduct Medal 6th, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon. On February 7, 1972 in Salem, Missouri Art was united in marriage to the love of his life, Lauren Dian Derrick. They shared forty-seven years of marriage together and to this union three children were born: Christine, Gideon and Clyde. During his working years, Art was employed with American Auto and Salem Wood Products. After retiring from the military, Art was able to do a lot more of the things he enjoyed. He loved working in the woods and really enjoyed cutting wood. Most importantly, he cherished his time spent with family, especially his grandchildren. He was a good husband, father and grandfather. Preceding him in death were his mother: Pearl Lovell; sons: Gideon Pilkington and Clyde Pilkington; brother: George Pilkington; sister in law: Doris Pilkington; mothers in law: Willa Dean Wisdom and Betty Derrick; father in law: Marco Derrick; grandmother: Nora Presley; grandparents in law: Gid and Ida Lou Derrick; great grandmother in law: Minnie Polk. Art is survived by his loving wife: Dian Pilkington of the home in Salem, MO; one daughter: Christine Pilkington of Salem, MO; four grandchildren: Jeremy Pilkington, Gaige Pilkington, Allie Click and Alexis Click; one great grandchild: Jedi Click; three brothers: James Forester and wife Cathy of Salem, MO, Anthony Hodges and wife Shonda of Rolla, MO, Robert Hodges and wife Becky of Alabama; three sisters: Patricia Shaw of Salem, MO, Avon Shaw and husband Johnny of Salem, MO, Evon Wallace of Alabama; good friend: Leon Shaw; several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends. Art will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who and loved him. Funeral Service for U. S. Army Retiree Arthur "Art" Lee Pilkington was held Friday, June 28, 2019 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Chaplain Cornelius Muasa officiating. Song selections played were "Peace in the Valley", "Dancing in the Sky" and "How Do I Live" . Serving as pallbearers were: United States Army. Burial with Full Military Honors was in the Round Pond Cemetery. All arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
