Betty Jean Roberts was born on May 21, 1943 in Harvey, Illinois to Charles Jewel and Aimee Alice Hulsey and passed away on August 1, 2020 in Salem, Missouri at the age of seventy-seven years. Betty was a devoted wife and dedicated mother to her two daughters, Laura and Terry. On July 13, 1995, Betty was united in marriage to her sweetheart, Jack Roberts. Betty and Jack shared twenty-five years of marriage and memories. Betty worked for many years as a waitress at Woodward Café. She took pride in her work and had many repeat customers over the years due to her work ethic. Throughout her working years, she also worked for Stevens Steakhouse and Country Mart. Betty truly cared for her customers and enjoyed talking to them. She treated everyone she met as if they were a part of her family, and everyone loved her for that. Betty was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Fan and enjoyed her lottery tickets. Most important to her was her family. Betty cherished the time spent with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty is survived by her loving husband Jack Roberts of St. James, MO formerly of Salem; two daughters: Laura Acord and husband Walter of Salem, MO and Maria Schafer and husband Jimmy of Salem, MO; nine grandchildren: Christopher, Robert, Zack, Christina and husband Eric, Ashley and fiancé Fred, Hannah and wife Amanda, Courtni, Nathan, and Lexi Jo; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death, husband: Herschel Woodward; daughter: Terry; parents: Charles and Aimee Hulsey; great-grandson: Brady; and brothers: Don and Gene. Betty will be remembered for her beautiful smile and love she had for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Services for Betty Jean (Hulsey) Roberts were held Wednesday, August 5, 2020 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating. Song selections played were “Something You Get Through”, “Amazing Grace”, “When I Get Where I’m Going”, and “Just A Closer Walk With Thee”. Serving as Pallbearers were Emmett Lutman, Tracy Brakefield, Chris Roberts, Willie Hanger, Hannah Acord, and Fred Garrett. Honorary Pallbearers were Eric Pierce and Austen Roberts. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
