Carl Eugene Sapaugh Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Carl Eugene Sapaugh was born on March 19, 1945, in Dent County, Missouri, to Sylvan and Dorothy Mabel (Petty) Sapaugh. He grew up in Salem and graduated from Salem High School. Carl was blessed with one son, Brian, from a previous marriage. They had a bond that grew beyond father and son, they were best friends. Carl worked hard to support his family and was a proud father. He taught his son the importance of hard work and determination. Carl started his working career as an engineer with General Motors in St. Louis; he then worked at the Corvette Plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky and later relocated to Detroit and then Saturn in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Carl retired after thirty-one years of dedication. After retiring, Carl then went to work for Dow Chemical for fifteen years. Carl lived life to the fullest, never met a stranger, and loved to help others. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, traveling, and a good game of golf. Spending time with his family and friends was the most important part of his life. Carl departed this life on July 31, 2022, in Salem, Missouri at age of seventy-seven years. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving son Brian Sapaugh and wife Heather of Telephone, TX; siblings: Shirley Dean of Salem, MO, James Sapaugh of Salem, MO, Eldon Sapaugh of Salem, MO, and Linda Dinzler of St. Louis, MO; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death, parents: Sylvan and Dorothy Mabel Sapaugh and brother: Jewel Sapaugh. Carl was a thoughtful, one of a kind, big hearted and funny man. He loved to cut up and aggravate others. Carl leaves behind a great legacy and will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Carl Eugene Sapaugh were held Thursday, August 4, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating. Eulogy’s were shared by Brian and James Sapaugh. Song selections played were “Seven Spanish Angels”, “Go Rest High On That Mountain”, and “Amazing Grace”. Serving as Pallbearers were James Sapaugh, Chase Sapuagh, Matt Sapaugh, Stephen Sapaugh, Cameron Sapaugh, and Matt Sapaugh. Honorary Pallbearer was Darrel Sapaugh.
