Carol Lynn (Conaway) Mitchell

Carol Lynn (Conaway) Mitchell was born September 12, 1954, in Illinois to Calvin Glen and Lucille Christina (Baker) Conaway. She grew up in Illinois and started her family at a young age. Carol was blessed with seven children: Clinton, Russell, Scott, Steven, Derek, Erica, and Becky. As a young mother, Carol moved to Salem, Missouri to be closer to her family. She was a dedicated homemaker and loving mother to her children. Carol took great pride in raising her family and caring for her home. As her family grew, she cherished making memories with her grandchildren and adored her great-grandchildren. Carol met her sweetheart, Albert James Mitchell, online through MySpace. The two fell in love and were united in marriage on August 23, 2008 in Salem. Carol and Albert shared thirteen years of laughter and memories together. Carol truly loved the outdoors and enjoyed what nature provided; she loved to go fishing and hunting. Gardening and planting flowers were her favorite things to do. Feeding and watching the wildlife, especially the squirrels, birds, and hummingbirds were some of her fondest moments. Carol most enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends, she was one of a kind, and lived life to the fullest. Carol departed this life December 14, 2021 in Rolla, Missouri at the age of sixty-seven years. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, loving husband: Albert Mitchell of Salem, Missouri; children: Clinton Flowers and wife Melissa of Salem, MO, Russell Flowers and wife Tina of Salem, MO, Scott Flowers and wife Sherry of Salem, MO, Steven Flowers of Columbia, MO, Derek Flowers and wife Dawn of Salem, MO, Erica Flowers and wife Amy of Salem, MO, and Becky Wisdom and wife Tori of Salem, MO; siblings: Ronald, Debbie, Dale, Larry, Gary, Jim, and Gladys; twenty-three grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, son: Sheldon; stepchildren: Big Bud, Jim, and Sharon; grandchild: Rhiannon; parents: Calvin and Lucille Conaway; and siblings: Calvin, Roger, Richard, Gene, Shirley, Mary Ann, and Linda. Carol was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She leaves behind a great legacy of faith, love, kindness, and strength. Carol’s beautiful smile and contagious laugh will be treasured forever. Funeral Services for Carol Lynn (Conaway) Mitchell were held Wednesday, December 22, 2021 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating. Song selections played were “The Rose”, “Dancing in the Sky”, “Jealous of the Angels”, and “The Way I Are”. Serving as Pallbearers were Clinton Flowers, Russell Flowers, Scott Flowers, Steven Flowers, Derek Flowers, and Erica Flowers. Honorary Pallbearers were Joey Flowers, Ryan Flowers, Cory Flowers, Brandon Flowers, Austin Hanson, and Aaron Maynard. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Carol Mitchell and left at Wilson Mortuary.
