Danny Lee Drury

Danny Lee Drury was born June 8, 1958 in Granite City, Illinois to James Herbert and Jessie Lorraine (East) Drury. He grew up in Salem, Missouri and graduated from Salem High School with the Class of 1976. At the age of nineteen, Danny met his sweetheart, Marsha Lynn Counts at a family wedding and fell in love. Danny and Marsha were united in marriage on August 5, 1977 in Salem and together celebrated forty-four years of memories. Danny was blessed with two children, Carrie and Justin. He was a devoted husband and dedicated father, doing countless things for his family to ensure their well-being and to support them in their endeavors. Danny was a hard worker and started his working career as a union carpenter in the St. Louis area. He later provided carpentry work in Salem, managed a hardware store, and was owner/operator of Drury and Wilson Construction, and also spent many years as a truck driver. Danny retired from the Missouri Department of Conservation after many dedicated years of service. Danny was one of a kind and had many hobbies and interests. He played golf three times a week, liked to bowl, piddled on his guitar, and enjoyed photography. Danny was an avid outdoorsman and spent time in the woods deer and fox hunting, liked bow hunting, and loved fishing at the lake. He was a sports enthusiast and looked forward to watching the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals games. Danny was active in sports and always ready for a game of basketball or softball. Although Danny had a memorable career and many hobbies, his pride and joy was always his family. He loved nothing more than watching his grandchildren play sports and making memories with them. Danny treasured his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He was a good friend and great man of faith. Danny attended Dry Fork Baptist Church throughout his life. Danny departed this life September 28, 2021 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of sixty-three years. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife Marsha Drury of the home; daughter: Carrie Patton and husband Jereme of Salem, MO; son: Justin Drury and wife Jonita of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Garrett Wilson and wife Hanah, Hayden Wilson, Tanner Patton, and Lynnlee Patton; great-granddaughter: Harper Wilson; siblings: Vickie Gibbs of Nixa, MO, James Drury Jr. and wife Carleen of Salem, MO, Kevin Drury and wife Beverly of Salem, MO, Keith Drury and wife Freda of Salem, MO; and Kim Hill and husband Freddie of Nixa, MO; granddog: Roscoe; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends. Preceding him in death, parents: James and Jessie Drury; mother-in-law: Beulah Prater; and father-in-law: Thurman Counts. Danny had a great sense of humor and was a joy to be around. He leaves behind a lasting impression that will not be soon forgotten. Funeral Services for Danny Lee Drury were held Friday, October 1, 2021 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Mike Gorman and Pastor Joe Hubbs officiating. Special Music was provided by Jarred Brown singing “Amazing Grace” and addition song selections played were “He Didn’t Have To Be” and “Love Without End”. Serving as Pallbearers were Garrett Wilson, Hayden Wilson, Tanner Patton, Jereme Patton, Greg Wilson, Bud Drury, and Travis Inman. Honorary Pallbearers were Kevin Drury, Keith Drury, Bob Counts, and Roger Counts. Burial was in the Dry Fork Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
