Elizabeth Louise (McMullin) Botkin

Elizabeth Louise (McMullin) Botkin was born on August 28, 1944 in Ellington, Missouri to George Riley and Lula Jane (Moore) McMullin and passed away May 27, 2020, in Salem, Missouri at the age of seventy-five years. Elizabeth was one of sixteen and grew up on the family farm outside Boss, Missouri. She graduated from Bunker High School with the class of 1963. Elizabeth married Salmer Dave Smith in 1964 and to this union were blessed with three children: Helen, Mark, and Wayne. On August 2, 1971, she married Vernell Botkin and to this union they were blessed with one son: Mario. Elizabeth and Vernell shared twenty-nine years of marriage before his passing on June 16, 2001. Elizabeth took great pride in caring for her family, she worked as a seamstress at the Lee Factory for several years. Her family were most important to her. Elizabeth adored her children and loved spending time with them. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elizabeth enjoyed working with her hands sewing, quilting, and making granny squares with yarn. She liked the outdoors and spent time gardening as well as fishing and hunting with Vernell. Elizabeth was a member of Macedonia United Baptist Church and enjoyed the fellowship there. Elizabeth is survived by one daughter: Helen Baker and husband William of Salem, MO; three sons: Mark Smith of Salem, MO, Wayne Smith of Oklahoma, and Mario Botkin and wife Kelly of Lenox, MO; three sisters: Venita Conder and husband John of Hawk Point, MO, Millie Adkins of Salem, MO, and Rose Brooks and husband Ron of Doniphan, MO; stepson: Stormy Botkin of Boss, MO; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; extended family and friends. Preceding her in death were her husbands: Salmer Dave Smith and Vernell Botkin; parents: George and Lula McMullin; sisters: Geniva Hart, Bertha Rainwater, Lula Bell Wesley, Pauline Dodson, and Betty Lee; brothers: Edward McMullin, Floyd McMullin, Everett McMullin, Little Lewis McMullin, George McMullin, Jim McMullin, and Richard McMullin; and grandson: Clayton Smith. Elizabeth will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Services for Elizabeth Louise (McMullin) Botkin were held Friday, May 29, 2020 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Garry Mathes officiating. Special Music was provided by Margo Morris, Brian Botkin, Helen Baker, and Linda Skaggs. Serving as Pallbearers were Riley McMullin, Jason Smith, Dusty Paul, Ovie Camden, Brian Botkin, and Bradley Botkin. Burial was in the Westfork – Sutterfield Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
