Elizabeth Kim Bowen

Elizabeth Kim Bowen was born August 17, 1967, in Rolla, Missouri to James and Beverly Jean (Wood) Bowen. She grew up in Salem and graduated from Salem High School with the class of 1985. Kim received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Drury University in 1991. Kim married Steve Shults in June 1988. Their greatest blessing, Megan, was born to this union. Kim’s proudest accomplishment and greatest joy was being a mother to her daughter. Kim was an excellent insurance agent and worked with Farmers Insurance for several years. She enjoyed helping people and made many friends during her years as an agent. Kim went on to become a successful business partner in Everything Cinema. With her hard work and capable, confident, strong, determined spirit, Kim was able to achieve her career goals. Kim loved spending time at Lake of the Ozarks. She was a great host and always welcomed friends and family with open arms. Kim always had her fridge stocked with Coke and fried chicken, and there was sure to be lots of snacks. She was a very giving person throughout her life and upon her death, she became an organ donor. Kim was her parents’ pride and joy and her daughter’s very best friend in the world. Kim is survived by her loving daughter: Megan Shults of Salem, MO; parents: Jim and Jeanie Bowen of Salem, MO; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, grandparents: Arley and Irene Bowen, Henry and Sarah Wood; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kim was beautiful inside and out. She will be remembered for her sweet, kind personality and the smile she always had on her face. Kim was loved by many and will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Elizabeth “Kim” Bowen were held Saturday, March 18, 2023, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Ron Norris officiating. Special Music was provided by Janet Ellis singing “Amazing Grace, My Chains Are Gone” and additional song selections played were “When I Get Where I’m Going”, “In My Daughters Eyes”, and “Go Rest High On That Mountain”. Serving as Pallbearers were Steve Wofford, David DeMand, Jason Parker, John Gibbs, Mason Roper, and Brian Martin. Honorary Pallbearers were Steve Shults, Luke Lucas, Reed DeMand, Larry Gibbs, Jim Wood, Doyle Swindell, Matt Woolf, and Mike Wood. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Kim Bowen to the LovePack BackPack Program and left at Wilson Mortuary.
