Faye Shirley Gibbs

Faye Shirley (Nelson) Gibbs was born December 20, 1924 at Montauk, Missouri to John Taylor and Myrtle Rose (Summers) Nelson and passed away March 7, 2019 in the Salem Memorial District Hospital of Salem, Missouri at the age of ninety-four years. Faye grew up in the Montauk area. On November 9, 1947, Faye was united in marriage to Eugene Riggins. After Eugene's passing, Faye was later wed to James Gibbs on November 8, 1985 in Salem, Missouri. In her spare time, Faye enjoyed embroidery, setting quilt tops together, and gardening. She attended Free Will Baptist Church. Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Myrtle Nelson; husbands, Eugene Riggins and James Gibbs; brothers, Virgil Nelson, Utah Nelson, Raymond Nelson, Art Nelson, Arvil Nelson, and Roy Nelson; sisters, Wanda Schroeder and Bessie Grissom. Survivors include her brother, Robert Nelson and wife, Nell of Rolla, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Faye will be sadly and deeply missed, but fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved her. Funeral Service for Fay Shirley Gibbs was held Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the Wilson Mortuary Chapel of Salem with Rev. Chuck Henderson officiating. Memories were shared by nephew John and special music played was "I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say", "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art". Serving as pallbearers were her loving nephews; John, Todd, Rick, Robert, Paul and Leland. Interment was in the North Lawn Cemetery in Salem, Missouri.
