Geneva Ellen (Hoodenpyle) Raulston

Geneva Ellen (Hoodenpyle) Raulston was born on February 15, 1927, in Dent County, Missouri to Orphus Francis and Charity (Freeze) Hoodenpyle and passed away on February 11, 2020, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Salem, Missouri at the age of ninety-two years. Geneva grew up and attended school in Southern Dent County. In September of 1944, Geneva was united in marriage to the love of her life, Wayne Raulston and together they shared fifty-eight years of marriage and were blessed with four children: Carol Ann, Gary, Mark, and Randal. Geneva was a homemaker who lovingly provided for her family. She loved to work outside, whether it was on the farm or spending time in her garden. Geneva enjoyed taking her bounty of vegetables and canning them. Her kitchen was a special place, she loved cooking, especially big family meals. Geneva used her talented hands for hobbies such as crocheting, sewing, quilting, and crafts. She loved spending time at the river camping and picnicking. When given the opportunity, Geneva would travel to Arizona to visit family and site see. She treasured the time spent with her family, they were her prize in life, especially her great-grandchildren. Geneva had a steadfast faith, and she enjoyed reading her Bible on a daily basis. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and has enjoyed the fellowship there for over seventy years. Geneva attended Sunday School, Worship Service, and the Ladies Club. She was also a member of the Gladden Star Club. Geneva is survived by two sons: Gary Raulston and wife Vicky of Salem, MO and Randal Raulston and wife Joan of Salem, MO, one daughter-in-law: Brenda Kunkel and husband Dean of Salem, MO; sister-in-law: Marcella Davis; six grandchildren: Chris Raulston and wife Mikki, Jamie Raulston, Jason Raulston and fiancé Terra, Matthew Raulston and wife Jessica, Jessica Marie Raulston, and Jacob Raulston; three great-grandchildren: Isabelle Raulston, Elizabeth Stokes, and Savannah Stokes; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Preceding her in death were, her husband: Wayne Raulston; father: Francis Hoodenpyle; mother: Charity Hoodenpyle Hanson; step-father: Axel Hanson; children: Carol Ann Raulston and Mark Raulston; siblings: Harold Hoodenpyle, Glen Hoodenpyle, Ervema “Pat” Hand, infant Doyle Hoodenpyle, and infant Eugene Hoodenpyle. Geneva was a dear sweet lady with a beautiful soul, all who knew and loved her will miss her beyond measure. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Funeral Service for Geneva Ellen Raulston was held Saturday, February 15, 2020 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Mark Johnson officiating. Special music was provided by Mikki Raulston singing “Consider the Lillies”, Jeremiah and Rachel Privett singing “Sweet By and By”, and Rachel Privett playing “Amazing Grace”. Serving as Pallbearers were Chris Raulston, Jason Raulston, Matthew Raulston, Jacob Raulston, Jessica Raulston, and Glynn Ralph. Honorary Pallbearers were Jamie Raulston, Greg Hand, Isabelle Raulston, Elizabeth Stokes, and Savannah Stokes. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. All arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
