Gerald "Jerry" David Rictor was born April 25, 1940, in Salem, Missouri to Thomas and Ethel (Pidcock) Rictor and passed away September 13, 2019, at his home in Salem, Missouri at the age of seventy-nine years. Jerry grew up in Salem, Missouri and attended Round Pond School. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Jo Ann Roney, on June 10, 1960, in Springfield, Illinois. Together they shared fifty-eight years of marriage and were blessed with four children: Toni, Bo, L.D. and Betsi. Jerry worked hard all his life to support his family. He enjoyed working beside his father-in-law as a heavy equipment operator at "Lawrence Roney Excavating". Jerry owned and operated "Gerald Rictor Plumbing and Excavating" as well as "The Donut Shop". Jerry enjoyed his time spent outdoors. In his early years, he enjoyed riding and showing fast gaited horses. He loved to fish as well as garden. Jerry was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed watching their games. Most of all, Jerry cherished the time spent with his family; especially his grandchildren. Preceding him in death, were his wife: Jo Ann Rictor; parents: Thomas and Ethel Rictor; in-laws: Lawrence and Bessie Roney. Jerry is survived by his four children: Toni Snider and husband Doug of Salem, MO, Bo Rictor of Salem, MO, L.D. Rictor and wife Stacy of Salem, MO and Betsi Rictor and husband Robert of Colorado; six grandchildren: Lawrence Rictor Jr. and wife Makayla, Allan Rictor, Cody Rictor, Chrissy Flores and husband J.C. , B.J. Hensley, Nikki Tomes and husband Joseph; seven great-grandchildren: Jaden, Madison, Riley, Wyatt, Lawson, Savanna and Kyra; two sisters: Ruth Ann McMullin of Springfield, MO and Joyce Blaylock of Salem, MO; and other relatives and friends. Jerry will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and a caring grandfather. Funeral Service for Gerald "Jerry" David Rictor was held Tuesday, September 17, 2019 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Tim Hill officiating. Song selections played were "Daddy's Hands", "Hard Working Hands", "He Stopped Loving Her Today", "Small Town Southern Man" and "My Old Man". Serving as Pallbearers were Bo Rictor, L.D. Rictor, J.R. Rictor, Allan Rictor, Cody Rictor and J.C. Flores. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery of Salem, Missouri. All arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
