Helen Annie (Rhinehart) Gibbs was born on October 9, 1925 in Salem, Missouri to Charles and Hattie Rosetta (Inman) Rhinehart and passed away on April 15, 2021 in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of ninety-five years. Helen was one of seven children and grew up in Salem. At the age of sixty-five, she fulfilled her dream of getting her high school diploma and went on to take a college bible class at SBU. On July 6, 1944, Helen was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ernest Gibbs, and together shared many years of selfless love and dedication to each other and family. Helen and Ernest were blessed with four children: Raymond, Linda, Brenda, and Ronald. Helen was a homemaker and took great pride in caring for her family and tending to her home. She was a dedicated wife and proud mother of her children. She held a few jobs outside the home which include working at the Ely Walker Factory making shirts and Dave Stephens Hardware. Helen had talented hands and was a wonderful seamstress, she enjoyed making clothes for her children. In her spare time, Helen also crocheted many beautiful afghans and keepsakes. She had a green thumb and loved growing vegetable gardens and selling the produce. Helen became a Christian at age sixteen and was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Salem where she taught Sunday School for many years. She loved spending time with her loved ones and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. Helen deeply cherished her family and treasured memories made together. Helen is survived by her loving children: Raymond Gibbs of Salem, MO, Brenda Thompson and special friend Don Winter of Sullivan, MO, and Ronald Gibbs of Salem, MO; one sister: Geneva Putman of Salem, MO; one sister in law: Ruthene Dillard of Licking, MO; seven grandchildren: Stephanie Lunn and husband Brad of Florida, David Gregory Pettus and wife Julie of Mansfield, MO, Steven Coffman and wife Jennifer of Springfield, MO, Shawn Coffman and wife Melanie of Salem, MO, Michael Gibbs of St. James, MO, Michelle Mosteller of North Dakota, and Traci Gibbs of Jefferson City, MO; fourteen great-grandchildren: Reagan and Kenzie Pettus, Sarah and Zachary Lunn, Avery, Harley, and Kaden Coffman, Alexander and Isabella Coffman, Kaleb, Morgan, and MaKenzie Mosteller, Brena and Braylan Gibbs; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Helen is preceded in death by, husband: Ernest Gibbs; parents: Charles and Hattie Rhinehart; daughter: Linda Coffman; daughter in law: Jane Gibbs; brothers: Frank, Manford, Paul, and Gilbert Rhinehart; and sister: Lura Wright. Helen will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit. She leaves behind everlasting memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Services for Helen Annie (Rhinehart) Gibbs were held Monday, April 19, 2021 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Joe Brand officiating. Song selections played were “In The Garden”, “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be”, and “Until Then”. Serving as Pallbearers were her loving family and dear friends. Burial was in the North Lawn Cemetery.
