Ira David Barton

June 22, 1937 - August 1, 2018

Ira David Barton was born in Reynolds County, Missouri to David and Sarah Odessia Barton on June 22, 1937. He was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, with his wife of 59 years, Virginia at his side. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Rhoda Ann Nickles and Ella Forsythe, and his brother, Bob Barton. Dave is survived by his wife, Virginia (Alcorn) Barton; daughter, Patricia Eckels and husband, Chad, Evansville, Indiana; grandsons, Jonah, Joshua and Jacob Eckels, Evansville, Indiana; sister, Jane Clinton, Salem, Missouri; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Shelia Alcorn, St. Louis, Missouri; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Dave enjoyed spending time with his family, as well as hunting, bowling, gardening, working in the yard and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Dave was a quiet man of faith who loved His Lord and was always willing to help family and friends in their time of need. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Salem, Missouri. Memorial service for Ira David Barton was held Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor David Kettner officiating. Special congregational singing was provided. Interment at Boss Cemetery will be at a later date. Arrangments under the direction of Wilson Mortaury, Salem.
