U.S. Army Veteran James "Jimmie" Dane Wallis was born on October 24, 1934, in Dent County, Missouri to Albert and Josephine (Broadfoot) Wallis and passed away November 12, 2019, in Salem, Missouri at the age of eighty-five years. As a young boy, Jimmie grew up and attended school in Salem, Missouri. He accepted the Lord as his Savior at a young age and was a longtime member of Salem Full Gospel Church. In the early 1950s, Jimmie entered the United States National Guard and served for four years before entering the United States Army on May 9, 1957. He served his country faithfully until his Honorable Discharge in April 1959. During his time in the Military, Jimmie received the Good Conduct Medal, Gunner 1st Class (Rocket Launcher), Expert (Rifle) and 2nd Class Gunner (Machine Gun). Jimmie was united in marriage to the love of his life, Rosie (Canaday) Wallis, on May 17, 1959, in Salem, Missouri. Together they shared sixty-years of marriage and were blessed with five children: Stanley, Jeff, Rodney, Rhonda, and Karen. Jimmie worked hard to provide for his family. He had various jobs through the years to include: Railroad Maintenance, Police Officer, Correctional Officer, and Bus Driver. He ended his working years working beside his sons, for ten years, in the Timber Industry. Jimmie was honored to be the Pastor for Jameson Full Gospel Church for many years. He enjoyed the fellowship with his congregation and the relationships he built. Jimmie was also a member of the Bible Way Association. When Jimmie wasn't working he loved to go hunting and fishing and just spend time outdoors. He enjoyed playing gospel music on his guitar for his family and friends. Jimmie's greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents: Albert and Josephine Wallis; siblings: infant sister, Maxine Miller, Larry Wallis, Roy Wallis, and Marie Nash; grandchild: infant Dylan. Jimmie is survived by his loving wife: Rosie "Catherine" Wallis of the home; five children: Stanley Wallis and wife Elizabeth of Salem, MO, Jeff Wallis and wife Jennifer of Salem, MO, Rodney Wallis and wife Shonda of Salem, MO, Rhonda Pryor of Poplar Bluff, MO and Karen Wallis of Salem, MO; one brother: Ray Wallis of Salem, MO; ten grandchildren: Shawn, Travis, Robby, Nicole, Morgan, Alicia, Aaron, Justin, Amanda, Ashley; fourteen great-grandchildren; extended family and friends. Jimmie was a wonderful husband, devoted father, loving grandfather and caring brother. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Funeral Service for James "Jimmie" Dane Wallis was held Saturday, November 16, 2019, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Rev. Stanley Wallis and Rev. Bill Stack officiating. Several of the Grandchildren shared favorite memories. Rodney and Rhonda Wallis sang and additional song selections played were, "Had It Not Been" and "I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You". Serving as Pallbearers were his loving grandchildren: Shawn Wallis, Travis Wallis, Robby Wallis, Nicole Wofford, Morgan Wallis, Alicia Bote, Aaron Wallis, Justin Pryor, Amanda Johnson, and Ashley Polston. Honorary Pallbearers were: Jason Smith, Billy Smith, Ricky Canaday, and Quintin Wallis. Military Honors were provided by the United States Army and American Legion Post 99. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. All arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
