Janet Sue Smith

Janet Sue Smith was born April 27, 1960, in Rolla, Missouri to William and Shirley (Hoffman) Smith. Janet was raised in Warrenton, Missouri and attended Warrenton High School. Janet met the love of her life, Steve Smith, in 1978 and on November 12, 2002, they were united in marriage. They were blessed with twenty years of marriage and enjoyed spending life together. Janet was a loving wife, caring mother of two children: Brandon and Misty, and a doting grandmother of three precious grandchildren: Riley, Kylee, and Mckynlee. As a mother and homemaker, Janet took great pride in raising her family and caring for her home. She was an excellent cook and loved to cook and bake; she was well known for her banana bread and fried chicken. Janet enjoyed making Christmas candies and fudge every year for her family and friends. Janet truly enjoyed spending time outdoors and sunbathing on the deck. She loved to garden and tend to her flowers. She was an animal lover and like to feed and watch the hummingbirds, birds, squirrels, and raccoons. Janet enjoyed mushroom hunting and collecting coke memorabilia. Janet departed this life March 17, 2023, in Rolla, Missouri at the age of sixty-two years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband: Steve Smith of Salem, MO; son: Brandon Smith and Sherry Busbey of Salem, MO; daughter: Misty Smith of Salem, MO; siblings: Linda Robison of Rolla, MO, Rodger Allen Smith of Salem, MO; and Destry Smith and Joyle of Bellflower, MO; grandchildren: Riley Kritz, Kylee Smith, and Mckynlee Smith; special aunt: Tuttie Yowell of Newburg, MO; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, her parents: William and Shirley (Hoffman) Smith and her brother: Jack Smith. Most important to Janet was spending time with her family and leaving them a great legacy to live by. She will be remembered for her generosity, contagious smile, and sweet friendship. Janet will be forever missed by those who loved her most. Funeral Services for Janet Sue Smith were held Wednesday, March 22, 2023 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Bro. Billy Miller officiating. Song selections played were “Drunk and I Don’t Want To Go Home”, “I Will Always Love You”, and “The Rose”. Serving as Pallbearers were Darren Hoffman, Gary Andrews, Bob Herndon, Wesley Connell, Kasey Hayes, and Thomas Mowery. Honorary Pallbearers were Richard Hoffman, Rodger Allen Smith, and Destry Smith.
