Jewel Lavenia McCarter

Jewel Lavenia McCarter was born August 14, 1924 in Jadwin, Missouri to Lee and Osa (Lough) Gearhart and passed away December 21, 2018 in Willard, Missouri at the age of ninety-four years. Jewel grew up on a small farm her parents owned in Jadwin, Missouri. She was saved and baptized at an early age and was a member of Second Baptist Church of Salem. On June 1, 1940, Jewel was united in marriage to Robert McCarter in Salem, Missouri and to this union four children were born, Joyce, Anna Lea, Linda, and Robert. In her early years, Jewel worked at International Shoe Factory. She later owned and operated a donut shop and was co-owner of Jack's Drive-In; Jewel was very independent. She loved gardening and her flowers, quilting, and enjoyed watching her hummingbirds. Jewel loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, Lee and Osa Gearhart; daughters, Joyce Waterman and Anna Lea Nichols; sons in law, F. Britain Waterman and George Nichols; brother and sister in law, Paul and Maxine Gearhart; brother, Lloyd Gearhart; sister and brother in law, Vivian and Glen Belew; brother in law and sister in law, Gene and Phyllis McCarter, and brother in law, Donald McCarter. Survivors include her children, Linda Mae "Mazie" Warden and husband, Doran; Robert Franklin "Frankie" McCarter and wife Linda; grandchildren, Scott Nichols, Angela Hall, Todd Waterman, Daniel Warden, Lea Anna Terrill, Rob McCarter, and Brian McCarter; great grandchildren, Bri, Alli, Ashley, Ian, Nathaniel, Nick, Jacob, Jack, Reagan, and River; niece, Glenda Kay Prugh; cousin, Geraldine Hoodenpyle; extended family and friends. Jewel will be sadly and deeply missed, but fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved her. Funeral service for Jewel Lavenia McCarter was held Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Minister Rick Pitchford and Pastor Larry Nash officiating, special recorded selections were played. Servings as pallbearers were, Scott Nichols, Jeff Terrill, Danny Warden, Nick Terrill, Jacob Terrill and Ed Hall. Honorary pallbearers were, Ian Hall, Todd Waterman, Brianna Nichols, Ashley Warden and Ali Nichols. Burial was in the Jadwin Cemetery.
