Joseph "Joe" Franklin Payne

December 27, 1957 - February 6, 2022

Joseph Franklin Payne was born December 27, 1957 in Salem, Missouri to Richard and Marie (Malone) Payne and departed this life February 6, 2022 in Salem, Missouri at the age of sixty-four years. Joe was a hard worker and worked in the timber industry for many years. He loved working with his hands and enjoyed small engine repair. Joe always found time to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He liked the outdoors and spent time fishing and hunting. If Joe wasn’t outside, he could be found watching westerns. Joe was blessed with five children: Bobby Jo, Travis, Timmy, Tabby, and Joey. He was a proud father and took great pride in providing for his children. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to him and making memories with them was his favorite thing to do. Joe leaves behind to cherish his memories, loving children: Bobby Jo Petty and husband Franky of Sullivan, MO, Travis Gamblin and wife Tiffany of Cuba, MO, Timmy Gamblin and fiancé Kim of St. James, MO, Tabby Merrill of Salem, MO, and Joey Payne and fiancé Aelissa of California, MO; siblings: Lucille Givens and husband Sonny of Salem, MO, John Payne of Texas, Mary Martin of Salem, MO, Hazel Shaw of Salem, MO, David Payne of Salem, MO, Leonard Payne and wife Donna of Columbia, MO, Richard Payne of Iowa, Dorothy Porta and husband Charles of Lonedale, MO, Carl Payne and wife Vicky of Salem, MO, Lisa Payne and Jeff of Robertsville, MO, and Timmy Payne and wife Rhonda of Bonne Terre, MO; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death, sister: Sharon Nickles; sister-in-law: Donna Payne; and nephews: Irvin Gamblin, Wayne Payne, and Kevin Parson. Joe was one of a kind and will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services for Joseph Franklin Payne were held Saturday, February 12, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Lyndell Decker officiating. Song selections played were “Go Rest High On That Mountain”, “I Believe In You”, and “Till The Last Day”. Serving as Pallbearers were Travis Gamblin, Owen Petty, Scott Shaw, Joey Payne, Mark Kitchen, and Joey Gamblin. Honorary Pallbearers were Tommy Shaw, Roger Counts, Johnny Shaw, Chris Roberts, and Chris Payne. Burial was in the North Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Joe Payne to Wilson Mortuary to help with funeral services. Online Condolences may be entered at www.wilsonmortuary.com
