Larry Gene Carmon

Larry Gene Carmon was born December 9, 1946 in Ironton, Ohio to Eugene and Gertrude (Depriest) Carmon and passed away January 4, 2020 at Phelps Health in Rolla, Missouri at the age of seventy-three years. Larry grew up in Coal Grove, Ohio. He entered the United States Army and proudly served his country for several years. During his time in the military, he was able to travel the world. He served two tours in Vietnam and for his honorable service, Larry earned many decorations, medals, ribbons, and awards. While stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Larry met the love of his life, Diana "Kay" Nickels. The two were united in marriage on August 2, 1968 in Laquey, Missouri, and together they shared fifty-one years of marriage and were blessed with two sons: Todd and Nathan. During his working years, Larry worked hard to provide for his family. He worked for the Coal Mines in Ohio, Bench Motor Company, and operated a dump truck for Keith Pritchard. Larry was also a truck driver and loved being out on the open road. After his retirement, he drove for the Post Cab Company. Larry loved spending time outdoors, he spent most of his time on his shooting range and watching his chickens and pigeons. Larry has owned several classic cars and has enjoyed going to many Car Shows throughout the years. He could be found sitting at the table, listening to old country music and telling jokes. He was well known for his stories. Larry loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Larry is survived by his loving wife Kay Carmon of the home, two sons: Todd Carmon and wife Sylvia of Laquey, MO and Nathan Carmon and girlfriend Melony Bruce of Laquey, MO; four grandchildren: Danielle Ice and husband Matt of Laquey, MO, Courtney Carmon of Licking, MO, Colby Washburn of Laquey, MO and Aidan Carmon of Laquey, MO; three great-grandchildren: Bradley Ice, Carter Ice, Cory Ice, and two great-grandchildren on the way; two brothers: Brock Carmon and wife Jen of Richland, MO and Greg Carmon of Ironton, OH; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Preceding him in death, were his parents: Eugene and Gertrude Carmon; two brothers: Roger and Jerry Carmon; and two sisters: Vera Howard and Judy Carmon. Larry will be remembered for his wonderful personality. He will be sadly and deeply missed, but fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved him.
