Linda Lou (Martin) Venable

Linda Lou (Martin) Venable was born June 30, 1948 in Salem, Missouri to Virgil “Bood” and Pearl (Tinker) Martin. She grew up with her family in Boss, Missouri. Linda graduated from high school and furthered her education with some college courses. Linda fell in love with her sweetheart, Larry J. Venable and on December 7, 1969, they were united in marriage. Linda and Larry were blessed with one daughter, Julie Ann who was born November 22, 1970. Linda and family moved and lived in other states as Larry served in the United States Navy. She took great pride in being a devoted and supportive military wife. For a time, she worked at a bank before becoming a dedicated homemaker caring for Julie as she had special needs. At the age of thirty-five, Linda repented for salvation in Christ and gave her life to serving the Lord and sharing her faith and love in Jesus with others. If you needed prayer, she was the warrior you wanted. Linda was a member of Second Baptist Church of Salem and served as a Sunday School teacher and Secretary. Linda was also the secretary for the Gideon’s chapter in Salem. Linda along with husband Larry served the Salem community with their Cabinet Shop, Venable’s Custom Cabinets for many years. In 2005, they closed the shop and went into retirement. Linda left her mark in many homes in the Salem and surround areas with her design of cabinetry. Linda loved artwork and she enjoyed reading books and poetry. She painted glassware and displayed pieces in her home. Linda studied the Bible and could share scripture about any matter with you in your time of need. She donated to charities to further the work of the Lord and military issues. Linda passed from this life into the next with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 2, 2022 in Salem, Missouri at the age of seventy-four years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband Larry Venable of Salem, MO; daughter: Julie Venable of Salem, MO; niece: Pat Janssen and family; brother-in-law: Bill Venable and wife Pat; sisters-in law: Donna Trent and Pat Watson; special friends: Mary Pfeifer and husband Wes of Salem, MO; well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, father: Virgil Martin; mother: Pearl Chambers and husband Lloyd; grandparents; sisters: Almaretta, Evelynn, and baby Vivian; and nephew: Marty. Linda was a great example of how to be a good wife, mother, and friend. She leaves behind a great legacy and will be forever missed. Celebration of Life for Linda Lou (Martin) Venable was held Friday, August 5, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Clay Harper and Pastor Lyndell Decker officiating. Song selections played were “Blessed Assurance”, “Amazing Grace”, and “Go Rest High On that Mountain”. Serving as Pallbearers were her loving family and dear friends. Burial was in the Boss Cemetery.
