Marvin Dean Ragsdale Sr.

Marvin Dean Ragsdale, Sr. was born November 13, 1941 in Jadwin, Missouri to Audra and Clara Marie (Halbrook) Ragsdale Key and passed away September 20, 2018, at his home in Salem, Missouri at the age of seventy-six years. Dean grew up in Salem and graduated from Salem High School in 1959. At the young age of nine he would set pins at the bowling alley and later at the young age of twelve he bagged groceries and delivered them. Dean met his future wife Ida Mae Henry at school where she messed his hair up to get his attention, they shared over 60 wonderful years together. Dean worked at IGA during his high school years. Through the years he was employed by White Rogers, Hostess Cake, Frito Lay, Coke, Hiland Dairy and eventually owning his own trucking business, "Ragsdale Trucking". He then worked for Timber Industries until his retirement. Dean had multiple vehicles and loved tinkering with them, he enjoyed fishing and built his own fishing pond that he was proud of, he was a talented guitar player and singer, and he took special care of his garden, yard and home. Most of all, Dean loved and enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Salem Christian Church. Preceding him in death were his father, Audrain Ragsdale, mother, Clara Halbrook Ragsdale Key, daughters, Darlene Mae Ragsdale and Dena Mae Ragsdale, brother, Clark Ragsdale, and sister, Marie Thomas. Survivors include his wife, Ida Mae of the home; children, Diana Hasten and husband, Corbin of Salem, Marvin Ragsdale, Jr. and wife, Brenda of Salem, Ricky Ragsdale and wife, Melissa of Salem, Jimmy Ragsdale of Salem, Ginger Biele and husband, David of Salem; grandchildren, Amy, Dillon, Nathaniel, Steph, Levi, Whitney, Alec, Brandon, Tyler, Eddie, Kyle, Kendra, Kristen, Nick, Wyatt, Lane, and Taylor; great grandchildren, Hayden, Trenton, Westyn, Bristol, Ayden, Colt, Cash, Olivia, and Baby Williams; and special dog, Cocoa. Dean will be sadly and deeply missed, but fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved him. Funeral service for Marvin Dean Ragsdale, Sr. was held Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Salem Christian Church with Pastor Tim Hill officiating, special music was provided by Dillon Hasten, Alec Biele and Eldon Thomas. Serving as pallbearers were, Nathaniel Ragsdale, Tyler Ragsdale, Alec Biele, Kyle Ragsdale, Nick Ragsdale and Dillon Hasten. Serving as honorary pallbearers were, Hayden Ragsdale, Trenton Ragsdale, Westyn Ragsdale, Brandon Biele, Eddie Ragsdale and Levi Lewis. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Salem, all arrangements under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem.
