Mary Lee (Swiney) Stringer

Mary Lee (Swiney) Stringer was born July 27, 1948 in Bunker, Missouri. She was born to Edward “Dick” and Delma (Williams) Swiney. Mary grew up and attended high school in Bunker. Mary was united in marriage to the love of her life, Tommy Billy Stringer. Mary and Tom shared fifty-eight years of memories together and were blessed with two children: Greg and Angie. Mary was a hard worker and in her younger years, she worked at Barad’s Lingerie. Mary retired from Wal-Mart after thirty-two years of dedication. She knew her job well and was a great asset to the customer service desk. Mary always had a smile on her face and enjoyed visiting with the community. Mary loved spending time outdoors working in her yard and tending to flower garden. She was an avid reader and always had a good book nearby. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great joy. She cherished the time spent with her family and treasured the memories they made together. Mary was a longtime member of Grace Community Church. She loved helping with church events and attending gospel singings. Mary truly enjoyed reading and studying her Bible. Her strong faith in God was evident in the way she lived her life. Mary entered into rest January 11, 2023, in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of seveny-four years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband: Tommy Stringer of Salem, MO; daughter: Angie Huffman and husband Sam of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Kyle McCracken, Kendra McCracken, Nathen Huffman and wife Alix, and Ben Huffman and wife Taylor; great-grandchildren: Lucas, Laney, Anlyn, Maevis, and Vera; extended family and dear friends. Preceding her in death, son: Greg Stringer; father: Edward “Dick” Swiney; mother: Delma Smith; stepfather: Elvin Smith; sister: Janice Coffman; and brothers: Jim Smith and Ray Swiney. Mary was patient, loving, king, caring, steadfast, and loyal. She was a great example not only for her family but for all who knew her. She leaves behind a great legacy and will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Mary Lee (Swiney) Stringer were held Saturday, January 14, 2023 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Terry Davis officiating. Song selections played were “How Great Thou Art” and “Scars In Heaven”. Serving as Pallbearers were Steve Swiney, Matt Sapaugh, Kyle McCracken, Darrell Sapaugh, Sam Huffman, and Junior Stringer. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
