Noel Edward Blackwell

Noel Edward Blackwell was born August 24, 1935 in Salem, Missouri and was the only child of Glen Edward and Ethel Louartie (Pidcock) Blackwell. He grew up in Salem and graduated with the class of 1953 from Salem High School. Noel met his sweetheart, Linda Lee Henson, on a blind date through a mutual friend. The two fell in love and were united in marriage May 31, 1959 in Sullivan, Missouri. Noel and Linda were blessed with two sons: Wade and Curtis. Noel enlisted into the Army National Guard in January of 1954 and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge in 1963. He took great pride in working hard and providing for his family. Noel was a dedicated employee for McDonnell Aircraft and retired from McDonnell Douglas after many years. Truly an outdoorsman, Noel liked hunting, fishing, and spending time at the family farm near Salem. He was a man of faith and member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Noel enjoyed attending when he was able and loved to worship and fellowship with others. Noel was a devoted husband, supporting father, loving grandfather, and doting great-grandfather. Making memories with his family was most important to him. He cherished time with his grandchildren and treasured his great-grandchildren. Noel departed this life December 12, 2022 in Salem, Missouri at the age of eighty-seven years. He leaves behind his loving wife: Linda Blackwell of Salem, MO; sons: Wade Blackwell of Salem, MO and Curtis Blackwell of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Sarah Hainline and husband Micah, Jesse Blackwell and wife Lauren, Jude Blackwell, and Beth Blackwell; great-grandchildren: Asher, Calvin, Ellis, Levi, and Zeke; extended family and dear friends. Preceding him in death, daughter-in-law: Terri Blackwell and his parents: Glen and Ethel Blackwell. Noel will be forever missed. His legacy will live on in those who loved him most. Funeral Services for Noel Edward Blackwell were held Friday, December 16, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating. Song selections played were “Amazing Grace”, “Far Side Banks of Jordan”, “How Great Thou Art”, “I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You”, and “The Love Of God”. Serving as Pallbearers were His Loving Family and Dear Friends. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
