Patricia (Hobson) Schafer

Patricia (Hobson) Schafer was born February 4, 1926, in Fort Myers, Florida to Alfred and Jeanette (Stanley) Hobson. She was raised in Fort Myers and met the love of her life, Ralph John Schafer, while he was stationed in Florida. Patricia traveled to Salem, Missouri by bus at the age of twenty. Patricia and Ralph were united in marriage on March 14, 1946 in Salem and to this union blessed with three children: Ralph Jr., Susan, and Brian. Patricia was a dedicated homemaker and took great pride in raising her family and caring for her home. She was a devoted and supporting wife to Ralph, they shared fifty-one years of memories before his passing. Patricia was an excellent cook and loved preparing family meals. She cherished making memories with her family and treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Patricia spent some of her free time baking and decorating beautiful wedding cakes. She was an incredibly talented quilter and sewer and expressed her deep love for others through her creativity. Patricia’s love for the Lord was evident in everything she did. She was a dedicated member of Upper Parker Community Church and attended faithfully until she moved to St. Louis. Patricia had a servant’s heart. Her generosity and compassion to help others was evident in everything she did. She truly loved helping with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts Club as well as with the American Legion Post 99 and St. James Veterans Home. Patricia departed this life November 2, 2022, at her home in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of ninety-six years. Those left behind to cherish her memory, loving children: Ralph Schafer Jr. of Salem, MO, Susan Myers and husband Anthony of St. Louis, MO, and Brian Schafer and Stephanie Cowan of Salem, MO; grandchildren: R. Johnny Schafer III, Laura Schafer, James Myers and wife Elena, Carly Myers, Brian Schafer Jr. and wife Sarah, Corey Schafer and wife Kim, and Rachel Smith; great-grandchildren: Madison, Zachary, Jacob, Ruby, Lexi, Hunter, Callie, Hadley, and Amelia; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Preceding her in death, husband: Ralph Schafer; daughter-in-law: Jerry Ann Schafer; grandson: Nathan Schafer; parents: Alfred and Jeanette Hobson; and all her siblings. Patricia lived a long and full life. Her acts of kindness and generosity towards others will never be forgotten. Patricia leaves behind a great legacy and will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Patricia (Hobson) Schafer were held Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the Upper Parker Community Church in Jadwin, Missouri with Roger Bailey officiating. Special Music was provided, and additional song selections were played. Serving as Pallbearers were her loving family and dear friends. Burial was in the Green Forest Cemetery.
